It's the worst possible feeling. It's confusion. It's anger. It's just an overall brokenness that's just gonna take a lot of time to heal. Randy Travis’ Wife Asks Fans to Help Block Release of 2012 DWI Video

Posted: 30 Nov 2017 12:10 PM PST

By Robyn Collins

Mary Davis-Travis, wife of country superstar Randy Travis, has asked fans to sign a petition to halt the release of dash cam footage from the singer's 2012 DWI arrest.

Related: New Randy Travis Street Sign Unveiled in Country Star's Hometown

The Texas Attorney General's Office is reportedly refusing to follow a state court order and is looking to release the footage come this Friday, December 1st.  The petition urges the Texas Attorney General's Office to keep the clip private as its possible future release is under a federal appeal.

Sheriff's troopers that responded to the DWI incident claim that Travis was naked and lying in the roadway. Travis refused to take a blood or breath test for alcohol, and ultimately a search warrant demanded a test, and results came back that the singer had a .15 alcohol level, according to Sounds Like Nashville.

Less than one year after the arrest, Travis suffered a stroke as a complication of congestive heart failure.

Travis' wife Mary shared the petition on her Facebook page, urging fans and friends to sign it.

“It is unfortunate that there are those out there that wish for bad things to happen to good people, and will go to any length to undermine them. This is a case where the justice system has miserably failed and bowed down to ill-intended requests.”

Selena Gomez Opens Up About Justin Bieber and the Weeknd

Posted: 30 Nov 2017 11:16 AM PST

By Scott T. Sterling

It would be something of an understatement to say that Selena Gomez has had an eventful year.

The pop star revealed that she had a kidney transplant due to complications from Lupus. She ended her high-profile relationship with the Weeknd, only to be seen spending a lot of time with ex-boyfriend, Justin Bieber, in recent weeks.

In a new interview with Billboard, Gomez has opened up about the past year and the status of those relationships.

“Something that I'm really proud of is that there's such a true friendship [between me and The Weeknd],” Gomez revealed. “I truly have never experienced anything like that in my life. We ended it as best friends, and it was genuinely about encouraging and caring [for each other], and that was pretty remarkable for me.”

When queried about the status of her relationship with Bieber, the singer emphasized their longtime connection as friends, sidestepping any indication of it being romantic, but not denying it either.

“I’m 25. I'm not 18, or 19, or 20. I cherish people who have really impacted my life,” Gomez said. “So maybe before, it could have been forcing something that wasn’t right. But that doesn’t mean caring for someone ever goes away. And [that goes for] people in general. I mean, I grew up with Demi [Lovato]. Nick and Joe [Jonas] and Miley [Cyrus] — we've gone through seasons in our lives. I don't think it's as serious as people make things out to be half the time. It's just my life. I grew up with all of these people, and it's so cool to see where everybody is. It comes back to the idea of me remaining full. I think a true representation of love is beyond just yourself.”

Radiohead Issue Statement Regarding Inquest into Drum Tech’s Death

Posted: 30 Nov 2017 09:31 AM PST

By Scott T. Sterling

Radiohead have issued a statement regarding the latest update following the June 2012 death of drum tech Scott Johnson, who was killed when the stage collapsed before a show at Toronto’s Downsview Park.

Related: Thom Yorke Laments Judge’s Decision to Stay Stage Collapse Trial

In the time since the incident, there has been no resolution regarding what caused the stage collapse, and who or what was responsible for the tragedy.

“Five years on from the Downsview Park Stage Collapse, we have learned that an inquest into Scott Johnson’s death will be formally announced later today,” Radiohead shared on Twitter. “While this is welcomed, it does not bring those responsible for Scott’s death to account, and it provides no justice for Scott and his family. We urge the Canadian authorities to look more closely into their treatment of the Downsview Park Stage Collapse and indeed all workplace deaths to ensure that accidents such as this can be prevented in the future.”

Earlier this year, a judge decided to stay the pending charges because bringing the parties—Live Nation, scaffolding company Optex Staging and Services and engineer Domenic Cugliari—to trial had taken too long, violating defendants' rights to a speedy trial.

“When the collapse happened, it happened at four in the afternoon,” recalled Radiohead drummer, Phil Selway to the CBC. “Our soundcheck was due to start at four and I actually should have been where Scott was. That is an incredible weight, and personally I can’t let this lie. I want to see a proper conclusion, something that is respectful to Scott.”

Russell Simmons Steps Down After Sexual Assault Allegations

Posted: 30 Nov 2017 08:58 AM PST

By Scott T. Sterling

Russell Simmons is stepping down as the head of his companies following sexual assault allegations.

Simmons has been accused of assaulting screenwriter Jenny Lumet in 1991, with Lumet detailing the incident in a guest column for The Hollywood Reporter.

Related: Russell Simmons Defends JAY-Z From Anti-Semetic Allegations

Lumet explains how she met Simmons in the social orbit of New York City nightlife of the late ’80s, and how the seemingly personable and charming Def Jam co-founder had “lightly” pursued her over the years.

She goes on to reveal how on a night in 1991, Simmons offered to give her a ride home after seeing him at a local restaurant. It was during that ride that instead of taking her home as promised, Lumet says she was then locked inside the vehicle and Simmons ordered his driver to take her to his apartment, where he raped her.

“While her memory of that evening is very different from mine, it is now clear to me that her feelings of fear and intimidation are real,” Simmons said in a statement regarding the allegations. “While I have never been violent, I have been thoughtless and insensitive in some of my relationships over many decades and I sincerely apologize.”

“This is a time of great transition,” Simmons added. “The voices of the voiceless, those who have been hurt or shamed, deserve and need to be heard. As the corridors of power inevitably make way for a new generation, I don't want to be a distraction so I am removing myself from the businesses that I founded. The companies will now be run by a new and diverse generation of extraordinary executives who are moving the culture and consciousness forward. I will convert the studio for yogic science into a not-for-profit center of learning and healing. As for me, I will step aside and commit myself to continuing my personal growth, spiritual learning and above all to listening.”

Lumet’s allegations follow claims by model Keri Claussen Khalighi made earlier this month that the hip-hop mogul harassed and assaulted her as well.

Justin Timberlake and Stephen Colbert Sing The National Anthem

By Hayden Wright

This fall, Justin Timberlake was confirmed as the Halftime Show performer at the 2018 Super Bowl. The multimedia entertainer stopped by The Late Show to discuss his next professional challenge. Early in his discussion with host Stephen Colbert, JT talked about why church is the best place for aspiring vocalists to hone their skills.

“You know that church is the best place to sing because you can go up there and completely botch anything and then at the end everyone says, ‘amen,'” Timberlake quipped.

The worst number for wannabe singers to learn?: the National Anthem. Colbert and Timberlake harmonized on the notoriously difficult-to-sing song before Stephen grilled Justin about his upcoming Super Bowl show. The host alluded to Timberlake’s 2004 performance, which ended in Janet Jackson’s unforgettable “wardrobe malfunction.” Justin didn’t reveal much but remained diplomatic:

“It’ll be great—it’ll be a good show,” he said. “Apparently a lot of people watch the Super Bowl. I’ve learned a lot of people watch the Super Bowl.”
