Every six months, in accordance with the 1995 Jerusalem Embassy Act, the issue is raised of the United States relocating its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, unless the president waives the requirement on national security grounds.
The law states that if the waiver isn't signed and the embassy doesn't move, the State Department would lose half of the funding for its facilities, and their security, around the world. The 2012 attack on American compounds in Benghazi, Libya highlighted the importance of embassy security.
Every president since Bill Clinton, who signed the act into law, has issued the waiver, leaving Jerusalem's status as a matter for Israelis and Palestinians to negotiate.
One of President Donald Trump’s key campaign promises was that he would move the U.S. embassy in Israel to Jerusalem. However, he signed the waiver in June, and the six-month deadline is due again on Friday.
Trump has suggested that he would extend the waiver for another six months in order to "give [his peace plan] a shot." However, mainstream media outlets are now reporting rumors that officials expect Trump to let the waiver expire and announce that the U.S. embassy is relocating to Jerusalem, possibly in a matter of days.
“Such reports may be accurate, or they may have been planted by individuals wishing to force the issue through the media,” according to a report in Foreign Policy. “Regardless, the president's intended path of action remains unknown.”
Trump's announcement to supplant Tel Aviv as the capital of the Jewish state will likely ignite anger throughout the Middle East because the Palestinians consider part of Jerusalem to be their capital, should they ever attain statehood.
Unnamed officials spoke to the Associated Press on condition of anonymity on Friday, saying that this week, Trump held a meeting with his top national security advisers at the White House and they described him as “intent on fulfilling his pledge to move the embassy but also mindful that doing so could set back his aim of forging a long-elusive peace agreement between Israel and Palestine.”
Trump will most likely issue the waiver on moving the embassy by Monday, officials said, noting that they could also be wrong about that.
The AP went on to report that the White House might issue a statement on Jerusalem by Wednesday, according to the officials and an outside administration adviser. But they also speculated that Vice President Mike Pence might make that announcement when he visits Israel in mid-December.
On Tuesday of this week, Pence said Trump is "actively considering when and how" to move the embassy, according to the report.
White House spokesman Sarah Sanders stated on Wednesday that an earlier report saying Trump would order an embassy move was "premature."
"No decision on this matter has been made yet," State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert reiterated on Thursday.

Special Counsel Robert Mueller's probe into potential Russian “collusion” with the 2016 Trump campaign has reportedly gone over the $5 million mark.
The Justice Department will release the first expense reports from the investigation next week, according to ABC.
At taxpayers’ expense, Mueller has hired 17 prosecutors to work on the ongoing investigation, as they search for evidence that the Russian government meddled in the election and ponder whether the Trump campaign was working with Russian officials in the effort to get him elected.
So far, the probe has led to two indictments: Former Trump campaign chair Paul Manafort and his associate, Rick Gates, were arrested on a 12-count charge that actually had nothing to do with the president or his campaign. The two men are accused of money laundering, tax fraud and "conspiracy against the United States."
The only other development in the multi-million-dollar investigation happened when former campaign aide George Papadopoulos pled guilty to lying to FBI investigators about his contacts with Russian nationals during the campaign.
Now, the focus of the investigation is on former national security adviser Michael Flynn. Mueller's team reportedly has enough information to indict Flynn and his son over an alleged deal with the Turkish government, according to a report in The Hill on Friday.
As the government spends millions on the investigation, Trump maintains his innocence, repeatedly stating that "there was no collusion" between his campaign and Russia.

According to newly released documents, there are mice and cockroach infestations in the West Wing, as well as other maintenance issues that have led some to declare the White House a “dump.”
Hearken back to the end of the summer, when it was widely reported President Trump had called the White House a “real dump.”
Public outrage was swift, and former occupant Chelsea Clinton tweeted her support for the famous building. But Trump denied the claims, saying that the iconic symbol of Washington is, “one of the most beautiful buildings (homes) I have ever seen.”
Fast forward a few months, and now a headline in the New York Post reads: “Turns out the White House is a real dump.”
Documents obtained by NBC4 Washington illustrate the condition of the White House when the president took office. The report says there was a “quick flurry of requests made shortly after Inauguration Day,” and indicates “some were specifically made by high-ranking officials in the White House.”
The U.S. General Services Administration has received hundreds of requests for repairs, equipment and pest control in 2017. The White House maintenance work orders reveal that the building’s grounds are plagued with mice, cockroaches and ants, as many requests have been made to deal with vermin, including mice in the Situation Room and the White House (Navy) Mess service area.
Reports included cockroach infestations in four parts of the White House and a colony of ants living in Chief of Staff John Kelly’s office.
Some other requests included repairs for a heating system, a request to repair a door release button in the White House Situation Room and a necessary fix to the Oval Office bathroom, which needed a new toilet seat.
In all fairness, NBC reports that similar requests were made in 2016, during President Barack Obama's final year in office, and the number of requests for building maintenance and redecorating has been similar to those made by past administrations.
NBC notes that the maintenance documents “offer a rare glimpse into the granular work required to maintain a major government facility.” Former General Services Administration (GSA) Inspector General Brian Miller said maintaining the aging presidential residence isn’t easy.
"It's an enormous job. GSA is assigned to manage that job," Miller told NBC. "GSA hires contractors and subcontractors for the [maintenance] work. Then the agency must watch over the contractors.”
"They are old buildings," he added. "Any of us who have old houses know old houses need a lot of work."

Colin Kaepernick, who is currently unemployed by any sports team, is the recipient of the Sports Illustrated Muhammad Ali Legacy Award for 2017. In explaining its selection, the sports magazine cited that Kaepernick has been “steadfast in his fight for social justice and committed to his beliefs no matter the cost.”
Kaepernick began a protest during the 2016 NFL football season. In a display intended to bring attention to himself, and therefore his cause, Kaepernick either sat on the bench or knelt during the national anthem, instead of standing respectfully.
Asked about the protest, he said it was in response to "systemic oppression against people of color [and] police brutality."
The award is given annually to a person who “embodies the ideals of sportsmanship, leadership and philanthropy and has used sports as a platform for changing the world,” SI said.
“Colin Kaepernick made his truth known when he first decided not to stand for the national anthem,” wrote SI in praise of the athlete.
Muhammad's widow, Lonnie Ali, was also full of praise for Kaepernick. In a statement provided to the magazine, she said: “I am proud to be able to present this to Colin for his passionate defense of social justice and civil rights for all people. Like Muhammad, Colin is a man who stands on his convictions with confidence and courage, undaunted by the personal sacrifices he has had to make to have his message heard. And he has used his celebrity and philanthropy to the benefit of some of our most vulnerable community members."
According to SI, Kaepernick’s protest has come at a cost: so far, a year of his NFL career and the attached income. “But still, it is his truth. He has not wavered from it. He does not regret speaking it. He has caused millions of people to examine it. And, quietly, he has donated nearly a million dollars to support it,” SI wrote.
Kaepernick’s “truth” led to controversial antics – including wearing pig socks, tweeting inflammatory images and praising Cuban dictator Fidel Castro – and the following statements:
Kaepernick’s truth has also led to a book deal reportedly worth just over than $1 million. The former quarterback has additionally filed a grievance against NFL owners, accusing them of colluding to keep him unemployed in retaliation for his views.

In response to their Party’s latest tax plan, wealthy Republican donors in the Northeast are expressing their anger by refusing to donate another penny.
"I think checkbooks stay closed until they see how it plays out," said Eric R. Levine, a Manhattan attorney and Republican donor who bundled contributions for Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., in 2016. "I'm not even trying to raise money in the fourth quarter."
When Barack Obama was president, GOP donors funneled millions of dollars into the Party in their effort to help Republicans win control of Congress and the White House. The lawmakers promised that they would enact tax reform cuts across the board and treats all industries equally, essentially ending Washington's practice of picking winners and losers.
However, Republicans, donors and voters in highly-taxed states like New York are rejecting the House-passed legislation moving through the Senate. They say it will result in higher personal taxes, even with the repeal of the Alternative Minimum Tax that affects many upper-middle-class Americans. In addition, they’re unhappy that the bill excludes white-collar service professions — such as law, finance, and consulting — from its lower small-business rate, even as it shrinks the corporate tax to 20 percent from 35 percent.
Previously loyal GOP backers are showing their disgust with the new legislation by turning down invitations to fundraisers and refusing to meet with prominent Republican officials. The rejection has been especially acute in New York, where wealthy Republicans serve as a major source of the Party's campaign funding.
"I've heard from a lot of different kinds of people with their feedback," said Rep. Lee Zeldin, R-N.Y., who represents an affluent suburban district on Long Island. He actually voted against the bill and remains opposed to it. "They're running the numbers and realizing that their taxes are going to go up."
Representative Tom MacArthur (R-N.J.) is one of the few Northeastern Republicans to support the package, but he acknowledged that people’s opinions of the tax bill generally depend on the news.
"I find when I walk people through it, some of them settle down, some of them don't, and I think it boils down to who they trust," MacArthur said. "If they trust the Left for their news, they don't like the bill. If they trust the Right for their news, they're willing to give it the benefit of the doubt."
As the Washington Examiner points out, “Ironically, many voters appear inclined to agree with the Democrats that the bill was made to order for the GOP's deep-pocketed contributors, at the expense of the middle class, despite the fact that Republicans wrote the plan to avoid such charges, at risk of alienating some of their staunchest supporters such as upper-middle-class voters who live in tony suburbs.”
A recent Politico/Morning Consult tracking poll shows that just 36 percent of registered voters back the legislation.
On Thursday, House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) said he expects public opinion to improve after the law is passed.
"You know what turns it around? Economic growth, jobs, more take-home pay, bigger paychecks, a more confident economy, companies bringing money into America from overseas," Ryan said. "Results are what matter. We're in the results business here."

Nearly $90 million will be set aside by the NFL to fund causes deemed important by the players, according to a report in The Washington Post.
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has been negotiating with a group of players known as the Players’ Coalition to provide financial support for the disgruntled players’ community activism efforts.
The $90 million agreement comes after scores of players have begun “taking a knee” during the playing of the national anthem, in their efforts to protest police brutality.
The agreement, which would place a particular focus on issues facing the African-American community, would last until 2023, according to the report.
NFL owners will be able to review the deal before deciding whether to adopt it. Proponents of the agreement say it could result in easing tensions that have been building between players and owners for months.
On Wednesday, the negotiations suffered a setback when San Francisco 49ers safety Eric Reid and Miami Dolphins safety Michael Thomas backed out of the group over how the leaders were dealing with league officials.
Goodell himself has said that the league believes players should stand for the anthem but has made no effort to punish players who choose to abstain.
Last week, President Donald Trump criticized the league for a rumored plan to keep players in the locker room during the national anthem, to prevent on-camera protests.
“The NFL is now thinking about a new idea — keeping teams in the Locker Room during the National Anthem next season,” Trump wrote on Twitter. “That's almost as bad as kneeling! When will the highly paid Commissioner finally get tough and smart? This issue is killing your league!”
A few days ago, Trump tweeted more facts about the failing football organization, noting, “The American public is fed up with the disrespect the NFL is paying to our Country, our Flag and our National Anthem.”

Senate Republicans are scrambling to make tweaks to the tax reform package in an effort to meet the demands and gain support from the last few, holdout-GOP senators before a final vote on the $1.4 trillion bill Friday.
Republicans worked late into the night Thursday, in a flurry of votes and meetings, as Senate GOP leaders made the requested last-minute changes to the bill.
UPDATE: The GOP has announced they now have enough support to pass the bill. This would be with 50 votes, and Vice-President Pence casting a tie-breaker vote.
One revision was a roll-back of some of the tax cuts after six years, as requested by Sens. Bob Corker (TN) and Jeff Flake (AZ).
Republican Sens. John McCain (Ariz.) and Lisa Murkowski (Alaska), two key votes in the measure, have both agreed Thursday to support the bill.
Two of the last holdouts – Sens. Steve Daines (Mont.) and Ron Johnson (Wis.) – have now agreed to support the bill after they garnered additional tax relief for pass-through businesses.
Their support brings Republicans much closer to having enough support to pass the bill. Having only 52 seats, the Republicans can only afford to lose two votes and still pass the bill, if all Democrats and Independents vote against it.
“After weeks of fighting for Main Street businesses including Montana’s farmers and ranchers, I’ve decided to support the Senate tax cut bill which provides significant tax relief for Main Street businesses,” Daines said in a statement, as reported by CNBC.
He reached an agreement with leadership to raise the amount of pass-through income business owners can deduct. The deduction will go to 23 percent from 17.4 percent in the original Senate bill. Pass-through income would still get taxed at individual tax rates, but those business owners would have the deduction. The net effect would drop the rate on pass-through entities below 30 percent, The Wall Street Journal reported.
Still on the fence about whether she will vote “yes” on the bill is Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine), who proposed an amendment to let homeowners deduct up to $10,000 in local property taxes on their federal returns. Without the deduction, Collins said, it would be "very problematic for me" to vote for the bill.
According to The Associated Press, “In a dramatic turn, Democrats forced a vote on whether to return the measure to the Senate Finance Committee so it could be rewritten to ensure smaller deficits. After holding out for nearly an hour during the vote, Corker, Flake and Johnson eventually joined fellow Republicans to scuttle the Democratic proposal.”

One of then-candidate Donald Trump’s biggest allies and supporters became his national security adviser after the election was won in November 2016. But General Michael Flynn quickly became a former adviser after his alleged involvement with Russia became an issue.
The case against Flynn in the ongoing “Russia probe” reached a new level this week. Flynn has been charged with making false statements to the FBI and is expected to plead guilty at a hearing Friday morning.
Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s office released a one-count charging document ahead of the hearing.
The document accusing Flynn of making false statements pertains to his interactions with Russian officials in late December — specifically, discussions about sanctions and other matters.
According to the document, those statements were:
"On or about Dec 29, 2016, FLYNN did not ask the Government of Russia's Ambassador to the United States ("Russian Ambassador") to refrain from escalating situation in response to sanctions that the United States had imposed against Russia that same day; and FLYNN did not recall the Russian Ambassador subsequently telling him that Russia had chosen to moderate its response to those sanctions as a result of his request; and … On or about December 22, 2016, FLYNN did not ask the Russian Ambassador to delay the vote on or defeat a pending United Nations Security Council resolution; and that the Russian Ambassador subsequently never described to FLYNN Russia' response to his request."
Flynn is accused of “willfully and knowingly” making the false statements to the FBI while serving in the Trump administration.
Flynn is the fourth person charged in connection with Mueller’s investigation.

“It’s a disgrace.” Those are the words of President Donald J. Trump in reaction to the not-guilty verdict handed down in the murder of Kate Steinle in 2015. Steinle, who was strolling with her father on a San Francisco pier was shot and killed by an illegal alien with a criminal history and five prior deportations.
The gun used by the illegal alien was one he had stolen from the Bureau of Land Management, a federal agency that polices public lands.
Though the 2015 shooting death of Kate Steinle became a flashpoint in an intense national debate over immigration, the issue was never addressed inside the courtroom, where a jury acquitted the illegal alien from Mexico of murder and manslaughter. He was only found guilty of illegally possessing a firearm. That charge carries a maximum of three years in jail and he has spent two years in jail already.
From the outset, the judge barred any mention of Jose Ines Garcia Zarate's immigration status or the five times he was arrested and deported to Mexico before re-crossing the border. The judge said the jury should consider only Garcia Zarate's intentions on the July evening when Steinle was shot.
San Francisco Deputy District Attorney Diana Garcia argued the shooting was murder. The jury sided with the defense, which argued that the shooting was an accident.
DML News launched a poll on Friday morning asking if people are outraged over the verdict. We ask you to take the poll and share it on social media. Click here for the poll.

Each day, I receive an influx of messages. Today, I respond to three of them, plus post a few photos.
To send me a photo, please email it to WeTrustDml@gmail.com, and to send a message, use the submit news button.
DML: Yes, the title says it all. But, the article does point out his deportation history. Even so, I get your point.
DML: Arlene, your email is appreciated but your thoughts and feelings are seriously misguided. First, we have covered the trials both on DML News and DennisMichaelLynch. But you are correct, I do not speak about the case because I was a witness in the first trial, and I am scheduled to be a witness in the current trial. Therefore, my silence is not due to a lack of interest in the case, but rather because I am involved in the case. Perhaps if you were following the case closer, you’d have known such a thing. Just sayin’…
I am a born again Christian, I don’t know if you have ever heard this term before but, I believe that Jesus died for our sins, he rose after three days and he will come back to earth one day to take all he saved people to heaven. I asked God to save me from my sins and I serve him everyday. I believe a long with a lot of Christian that President Trump was chosen by God for a time as this. He is God’s Cyrus, he is in the bible.
Our President has been attacked before and after he took office, the liberals and the Dems have been attacking God’s servant, this doesn’t go over good for God. So, the things we have been seeing with all the MSM, Hollywood, Senate, the people being accused of sexual harassment is the reset by God for this country. We are going to see a lot more of this reset.
I’m not a good writer, but I just wanted to let you know how I believe and think on your statement of the reset. Hang on Dennis, more is coming. Thank you for your truth and your integrity, God bless you and your family. Never back down or give up on the truth. Have a Merry Christmas.
DML: Yes, I believe a major correction is taking place in our country. Unfortunately, the saying ‘no pain, no gain’ will be tested true in this case. Merry Christmas to you, too!

Ammon Bundy was granted a limited-release from prison by a federal judge on Thursday after the prosecution failed to show evidence to keep him behind bars during his trial. He spoke to the AP about his release in the video below.
His brother Ryan Bundy, who also stands trial, was given a similar release weeks ago.
Cliven Bundy, the father of both Ammon and Ryan, was also granted a release but decided to remain in prison until his other sons, David and Mel, who await trial, are released from prison.
All the men are being prosecuted for the “Bundy Standoff” of 2014. In short, the standoff was an armed confrontation between the federal government and some of the Bundy family members and their supporters. The standoff was the result of a protest against the federal government concerning land rights in Nevada.
The release of the Bundy brothers is limited. The men must remain under house arrest while the trial is ongoing.
The hearing came amid questions from defense teams about whether federal prosecutors have turned over complete evidence records about the conduct of FBI and other government agents during the standoff.
Judge Gloria Navarro, an Obama appointee, did not say why she reversed her previous detention ruling.
Her decision Wednesday followed a four-hour, closed hearing with prosecutors, defense attorneys, court security officers and the four defendants.
"There's a lot of allegations that remain, a lot of information that's provided," the judge said cryptically from the bench.
Jurors got a glimpse of the claims when Ryan Bundy spoke during his opening statement, describing government snipers and surveillance cameras on dusty hilltops surrounding his family home, in the days before armed supporters arrived.
Acting U.S. Attorney Steven Myhre has cast the standoff as an armed uprising, not a peaceful protest.
The CEO of DML News, Dennis Michael Lynch was a witness in the first trial and is scheduled to be a witness in the current trial if the prosecution decides to move forward.
From the AP: “Ammon Bundy spoke to reporters after he was released amid his trial involving an armed standoff that stopped a government cattle roundup in Nevada.”

Charged with money laundering and tax fraud last month, former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort reached an $11 million bail deal with federal prosecutors that requires him to pledge four of his properties to the government.
Manafort was charged along with business associate Richard Gates in October. Both men have been under house arrest ever since.
According to court documents, defense attorneys presented “an agreed-upon bail package” with Mueller’s team on Thursday, Politico reported. Manafort will forfeit four properties he owns, which prosecutors say equal $11 million in value.
“The Defendant will execute an agreement to forfeit four (4) separate real properties if there is a bail violation with a total estimated net value (i.e., fair market value less encumbrances) of approximately $11.65 million. The OSC has agreed that the properties posted provide the reasonable assurance required under the Bail Reform Act,” Mueller’s attorneys wrote.
The deal will give Manafort the freedom to travel anywhere in Virginia, New York, Florida and Washington, D.C., but he will need permission from the court if he wants to go anywhere else. In addition, Manafort’s wife, Kathleen Manafort, would be required to pay $10 million if her husband were to flee. Manafort has surrendered his three passports, and Kathleen Manafort gave authorities hers, as well.
Gates, who is also under house arrest in Virginia, has been offered a $5 million bond in his case.
The charges against Manafort and Gates were filed as part of Mueller’s ongoing probe into possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia. Manafort has consistently denied colluding with Russia.
The special counsel’s office, run under the Justice Department, has the authority to investigate “any and all matters” that arise from the wider probe into Russian election meddling.

Now that he’s been acquitted in the 2015 shooting death of 32-year-old Kate Steinle in San Francisco, U.S. immigration officials announced Thursday that they will seek to deport Jose Ines Garcia Zarate, an illegal alien.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) released a statement Thursday night slamming the city of San Francisco for not cooperating with federal immigration authorities prior to the deadly shooting. Zarate, who had been deported five times previously, was released from a San Francisco jail just three months before he killed Steinle.
“San Francisco's policy of refusing to honor ICE detainers is a blatant threat to public safety and undermines the rule of law,” ICE Deputy Director Tom Homan said in the statement. “This tragedy could have been prevented if San Francisco had simply turned the alien over to ICE, as we requested, instead of releasing him back onto the streets.”
Homan added, “It is unconscionable that politicians across this country continue to endanger the lives of Americans with sanctuary policies while ignoring the harm inflicted on their constituents. Following the conclusion of this case, ICE will work to take custody of Mr. Garcia Zarate and ultimately remove him from the country.”
Zarate, a Mexican national, had previously served a prison sentence for illegally re-entering the country, and in 2015, was transferred to San Francisco to face a 20-year-old charge for selling marijuana, according to a report in The Hill. However, the charge was dropped by the district attorney and Zarate was released after federal immigration authorities contacted California officials to request that the illegal alien be held for deportation.
On Thursday, the San Francisco Superior Court jury found Zarate “not guilty” of murder and assault with a firearm, but convicted him of being a felon in possession of a gun. He will be sentenced at a future date.
Defense attorney Matt Gonzalez made a statement after the verdict was handed down, telling outraged Americans, "For those who might criticize this verdict – there are a number of people who have commented on this case in the last couple of years; the Attorney General of the United States and the President and Vice President of the United States. Let me just remind them: they are themselves under investigation by a special prosecutor in Washington D.C. and they may soon avail themselves of the presumption of innocence beyond a reasonable doubt, so I ask that they reflect on that before they comment or disparage the results of this case."

President Trump took to Twitter on Friday morning to issue more statements about the verdict in the Kate Steinle case.
The tweets are a reaction to the not-guilty verdict handed down Thursday by a California court. Only found guilty of illegally possessing a firearm, the illegal alien who shot and killed Steinle in 2015, as she walked on a San Francisco pier with her dad, had been deported five times and had a criminal record.
Part one of Trump’s two-part Tweet: “The Kate Steinle killer came back and back over the weakly protected Obama border, always committing crimes and being violent, and yet this info was not used in court. His exoneration is a complete travesty of justice. BUILD THE WALL!”
Part two of Trump’s message: “The jury was not told the killer of Kate was a 7 time felon. The Schumer/Pelosi Democrats are so weak on Crime that they will pay a big price in the 2018 and 2020 Elections.”
The tweets come on the heels of Trump’s tweet on Thursday. “A disgraceful verdict in the Kate Steinle case! No wonder the people of our Country are so angry with Illegal Immigration.”

According to a new report from Fox News, officials at the Justice Department are considering bringing federal charges against Jose Ines Garcia Zarate after a San Francisco court found him not guilty in the Kate Steinle murder trial Thursday.
Zarate was found not guilty of murder, involuntary manslaughter and assault with a deadly weapon. The court only convicted him of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
U.S. immigration officials had said they would deport Garcia Zarate – also known as Juan Francisco Lopez Sanchez — who had already been deported five times and was wanted for a sixth deportation when Steinle was fatally shot in the back while walking with her father on a San Francisco pier in 2015.
The illegal alien could spend three years in prison for the firearm charge but has already been behind bars for over two years as the case made its way through the court system.
The consideration of federal charges comes as President Trump calls the verdict "disgraceful" and uses the case to rally support for a border wall.
DMLNews.com published a poll on Friday morning asking readers if they are outraged over the verdict. In just a few hours, the poll has been taken thousands of times, with 99.75% of people claiming they are outraged. You can take the poll by clicking here.

Here is a must read report from Judicial Watch about Mexicans using U.S. businesses and tourist visas to smuggle drugs through Border.
FROM JUDICIAL WATCH:
It has been well documented by federal law enforcement agencies that the majority of illegal drugs in the United States come from Mexico and Mexican traffickers remain the greatest criminal threat to the U.S. Mexican cartels—classified as Transitional Criminal Organizations (TCOs) by the government—have for years smuggled in enormous quantities of heroin, cocaine, methamphetamine and marijuana. In its National Drug Threat Assessment, the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) confirmed that Mexican cartels are in a class of their own, that "no other group can challenge them in the near term." They are sophisticated operations that function like businesses. "These Mexican poly-drug organizations traffic heroin, methamphetamine, cocaine, and marijuana throughout the United States, using established transportation routes and distribution networks," the DEA report states. "They control drug trafficking across the Southwest Border and are moving to expand their share of US illicit drug markets, particularly heroin markets. National-level gangs and neighborhood gangs continue to form relationships with Mexican TCOs to increase profits for the gangs through drug distribution and transportation, for the enforcement of drug payments, and for protection of drug transportation corridors from use by rival gangs."
The National Drug Intelligence Center, dismantled by the Obama administration after nearly two decades of operation, published equally alarming figures regarding the Mexican drug crisis. In a detailed report published by Judicial Watch, the now-defunct agency revealed that in 2009 thousands of metric tons of heroin, meth, marijuana and cocaine were smuggled into the U.S. from Mexico and that tens of billions of dollars in drug proceeds flowed back south. At that point, much of the smuggled drugs came through the Tohono O'odham Indian Reservation in Arizona, so the problem is spreading like wildfire across the vast and famously porous southern border which spans around 2,000 miles.
Many hoped the situation would improve under the Trump administration, but apparently that is not the case. Frustrated Border Patrol agents interviewed by Judicial Watch say little has changed since Trump was sworn in even though he vowed to tighten border security. The recent figures at just two sectors situated along the Mexican border support that. The 1,700 pounds of marijuana, 90 pounds of cocaine and 17 pounds of liquid methamphetamine were confiscated by the agency's Rio Grande Valley division during a week in mid-November. Federal authorities estimate the cocaine to be worth more than $2.7 million and the marijuana $1.3 million, according to a press release. The liquid meth is estimated to have a value of over half a million dollars. "The seizures were results of Border Patrol operations along the river and at Border Patrol checkpoints," the agency writes in the statement.
The weekend stash in San Diego, California has a value of $8.3 million, according to the Border Patrol. It includes fentanyl, heroin, cocaine and methamphetamine. The drugs were found in 15 separate smuggling attempts and were hidden in various areas of vehicles such as the gas tank, trunk, battery, floor, quarter panels and tires. Two of the smugglers were Mexican citizens with B-1/B-2 visas granted by the U.S. to foreigners for business, tourism or a combination of both. The first was a 53-year-old man who got busted with ten wrapped packages of fentanyl in a compartment on the floor of his sports utility vehicle. The drugs have an estimated street value of $736,000, according to the feds. The other Mexican smuggler with a U.S. visa was a 56-year-old man driving a commercial bus with 382 pounds of cocaine worth nearly $5 million hidden in the gas tank.

Judicial Watch has released to the public nearly 30 pages from an FBI investigation into the 2016 tarmac meeting between then-Attorney General Loretta Lynch and former President Bill Clinton. The meeting took place during the 2016 election when Clinton’s wife was running for president.
The documents appear to show FBI officials were more concerned about the leak than the meeting itself.
The report said FBI officials sent a flurry of emails over the story about the meeting that ran in New York’s Observer. The officials reportedly wrote, "We need to find that guy," and reached out to the FBI offices in Phoenix in hopes to prevent "further damage."
The report said all names on the emails were redacted and there is no documentation showing concern over the meeting itself.
The tarmac meeting fueled Republican complaints that Lynch had improperly met with the husband of an investigation subject, just before the probe into Hillary Clinton’s personal email use was completed with no charges filed.
(Washington, D.C.) – Judicial Watch today released 29 pages of Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) documents related to the June 27, 2016, tarmac meeting between former Attorney General Loretta Lynch and former President Bill Clinton. The documents show that FBI officials were more concerned about leaks than the actual meeting itself. The new documents also show that then-FBI Director Comey seemed to learn of the meeting from news reports.
The new documents were obtained by Judicial Watch in response to a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit (Judicial Watch v. U.S. Department of Justice (No. 1:16-cv-02046)) filed after the Justice Department failed to comply with a July 7, 2016, FOIA request seeking:
The new FBI documents show FBI officials were concerned about a leak that Bill Clinton delayed his aircraft taking off in order to "maneuver" a meeting with the attorney general. The resulting story in the Observer is seemingly confirmed and causes a flurry of emails about the source of the article. FBI official(s) write "we need to find that guy" and that the Phoenix FBI office was contacted "in an attempt to stem any further damage." Another FBI official, working on AG Lynch's security detail, suggests instituting non-disclosure agreements. The names of the emails authors are redacted. There are no documents showing concern about the meeting itself.
The FBI originally informed Judicial Watch they could not locate any records related to the tarmac meeting. However, in a related FOIA lawsuit, the Justice Department located emails in which Justice Department officials communicated with the FBI and wrote that they had communicated with the FBI. As a result, by letter dated August 10, 2017, from the FBI stated, "Upon further review, we subsequently determined potentially responsive documents may exist. As a result, your [FOIA] request has been reopened…"
On June 27, 2016, Attorney General Loretta Lynch met with former President Bill Clinton on board a parked plane at Sky Harbor International Airport in Phoenix, Arizona. The meeting occurred during the then-ongoing investigation of Mrs. Clinton's email server, and only a few days before she was interviewed the Justice Department and FBI. (Judicial Watch filed a request on June 30 that the U.S. Department of Justice Office of the Inspector General investigate that meeting.)
The tarmac meeting also came just days before former FBI Director James Comey held the July 5, 2016, press conference in which he announced that no charges would be filed against Mrs. Clinton. In his subsequent, May 3, 2017, testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee, Comey said the Lynch-Clinton tarmac meeting was the "capper" among "a number of things" that had caused him to determine that Department of Justice leadership "could not credibly complete the investigation and decline prosecution without grievous damage to the American people's confidence in the justice system."
"These new FBI documents show the FBI was more concerned about a whistleblower who told the truth about the infamous Clinton-Lynch tarmac meeting than the scandalous meeting itself," said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. "The documents show the FBI worked to make sure no more details of the meeting would be revealed to the American people. No wonder the FBI didn't turn these documents over until Judicial Watch caught the agency red-handed hiding them. These new documents confirm the urgent need to reopen the Clinton email scandal and criminally investigate the resulting Obama FBI/DOJ sham investigation."
