( The Hill ) Republican-led House and Senate committees are investigating whether leaders of the Russia counterintelligence investigation had contacts with the news media that resulted in improper leaks, prompted in part by text messages amongst senior FBI officials mentioning specific reporters, news organizations and articles.
In one exchange, FBI counterintelligence agent Peter Strzok and bureau lawyer Lisa Page engaged in a series of texts shortly before Election Day 2016 suggesting they knew in advance about an article in The Wall Street Journal and would need to feign stumbling onto the story so it could be shared with colleagues.
"Article is out, but hidden behind paywall so can't read it," Page texted Strzok on Oct. 24, 2016.
"Wsj? Boy that was fast," Strzok texted back, using the initials of the famed financial newspaper. "Should I 'find' it and tell the team?"
The text messages, which were reviewed by The Hill, show the two FBI agents discussed how they might make it appear they innocently discovered the article, such as through Google News alerts.
"I can get it like I do every other article that hits any Google News alerts, seriously," Strzok wrote, adding he didn't want his team hearing about the article "from someone else."
Strzok played a key role in the early Russia election meddling probe before he was removed last summer by special counsel Robert Mueller for exchanging text messages critical of President Trump then still a candidate, with Page.

The federal probe into a 2010 land deal orchestrated by former Burlington College president Jane Sanders, wife of U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., has deepened. VTDigger has confirmed that a grand jury has compelled sworn witness testimony in the case.
The Vermont U.S. Attorney's office has interviewed at least one witness before the grand jury to determine whether indictments should be handed down.
Former Burlington College board member Robin Lloyd says she testified for about an hour on Oct. 26 before a grand jury at the federal courthouse in Burlington.
Paul Van de Graaf, chief of the criminal division for the U.S. attorney's office in Vermont, questioned Lloyd about her role as the development chair of the college's board of trustees during a period when Sanders was collecting donations and pledges for the purchase of a $10 million city lakefront property.
Lloyd, who is publisher of the progressive website Toward Freedom, kept copious board meeting minutes as the development chair for the college. In the interview with Van de Graaf, Lloyd said he "was focused on what I knew about who had been approached for contributions."
"I helped provide a timeline of what happened — and when — in terms of development," Lloyd said. "It was general questions about donors, and money coming in."
Jane and Bernie Sanders have vehemently denied any impropriety surrounding the land deal.
Jeff Weaver, a spokesman for the Sanders and former campaign manager, told Seven Days Sunday night, "We have absolutely no reason to believe that there is a grand jury empaneled to examine Burlington College, Jane Sanders, or any aspect of Dr. Sanders' service as president of Burlington College. As best we can tell, the current news reports are simply recycling an account of a government interview of a witness from several months ago. Nothing new here."
Lloyd's appearance is the first public confirmation that the federal government has compelled a grand jury.

( Daily Mail ) Some 600 men showed up to support students with absent fathers at a Texas middle school’s Breakfast with Dads event after just 50 volunteers were sought.
This heartwarming act of kindness occurred last month at Billy Earl Dade Middle School in Dallas.
The middle school has a population of nearly 900 students and about 90 per cent of those pupils come from low-income families.
About 150 male students, ages 11 to 13, signed up for the Breakfast with Dads event, which was held on December 14, 2017, but Kristina Dove, the senior partner relations manager at Big Thought, a youth development nonprofit, wasn’t sure if every student would have a father present during the program.

( Daily Caller ) Hollywood is entering awards season on the heels of a tough couple months, and the ratings for Sunday night's Golden Globes will not help.
Early returns show that the awards show, which was not shy about political grandstanding and Trump-bashing, is posting weak ratings returns. According to Variety, early ratings numbers show a drop of five percent in total viewers from last year.
Nineteen million viewers tuned in to NBC to watch, numbers that were down 5 percent from 2017's 20 million.

THE DERANGED PROTESTS BY SNOWFLAKES OUTSIDE CNN HEADQUARTERS
Prior to the arrival of Trump the Atlanta branch of the NAACP urged people to wear white to the game and to bring white towels to wave when the president enters the stadium.
The white was meant to mock the ‘snowflake’ insult that Trump supporters have made against those who oppose the president.
‘We’re going to make a snowflake turn into a mighty blizzard inside of Mercedes-Benz Stadium when Mr. Trump comes,’ Gerald Griggs, a vice president of the Atlanta NAACP, said at a news conference Monday.

HEAVY snow has covered the Sahara Desert in a freak winter weather storm.
More than 15 inches (40cm) has blanketed sand dunes across the small town of Ain Sefra, Algeria.
It is the second time snow has hit in nearly 40 years, with a dusting also recorded in December 2016.
But this snowfall which hit yesterday, is much deeper than the fleeting shower little more than a year ago.
Locals, who endure temperatures of 37C in summer, were stunned as dense snow settled on the town, known as 'the gateway to the desert'.

Picking up steam on Twitter is the hashtag #OprahKnew accompanied by photos of an obviously chummy Winfrey nuzzling with and even kissing Weinstein:
Back in late November, Oprah's name was dragged into the Weinstein scandal when British actress Kadian Noble, who has filed an 11 page complaint against the former mogul, alleged, among other terrible things, that Weinstein got to her through Winfrey and model Naomi Campbell.
"An aspiring actress says Harvey Weinstein used Oprah Winfrey and Naomi Campbell to dupe her into thinking he would help her with her career — only to use her for sex," Page Six reported.
OPRAH PLAYED A FAKE RACE CARD
Winfrey also found herself in hot water in 2013 when, without any proof, she appeared to manufacture a racial controversy in order to promote her latest movie, Lee Daniels's The Butler. Appearing on Entertainment Tonight, Winfrey accused a Swiss shopgirl of racism.
"I say to the woman, 'Excuse me, may I see that [$38,000 purse] right above your head?' And she says to me, 'No, it's too expensive.' … She refused to get it," Winfrey dramatically explained.
But Winfrey refused to back up her story by identifying the store or the "racist" clerk. Eventually, though, the store and the shopgirl were located, and the young woman accused of racism by the most powerful woman in the world, openly declared Winfrey a liar:
And what was Winfrey's bizarre response to this hideous "racist" adding insult to injury by declaring her a liar? Outrage? Fury? Nope. Winfrey backed off with a non-apology apology about being "sorry" that the incident "got blown up."
