Omarosa spills the beans in shocking interview about her time in White House (video)

Posted: 08 Feb 2018 09:22 AM PST

The scene is set up as a cozy, whispered chat about a dramatic experience that no one else should be eavesdropping on, but it’s all set to air on live TV Thursday evening, and a sneak preview has just been released to the public.

Omarosa Manigault is interviewed by Ross Matthews on “Big Brother: Celebrity Edition,” on her time in the White House, which airs Thursday night at 8:00-9:00 pm ET/PT.

Ross tells Omarosa in the preview just released, “From the outside, as a voter and citizen, I never got it, why you went to the White House with him?”

“I felt like it was a call to duty, I was serving my country, not serving him,” Omarosa said, whispering dramatically, “I was haunted by tweets every single day, like ‘what is he going to tweet next?'”

“It’s bad,” she claimed, adding, “No, it’s not going to be ok.”

Manigault, who was a staunch Trump supporter, served as the director of communications for the Office of Public Liaison in the Trump administration until her resignation in December. She also served as director of African American outreach during Trump's presidential campaign. At the time of her resignation, it was reported that she was forcibly removed from the White House grounds, a report she has denied.

Watch the preview below:

Trump speaks at National Prayer Breakfast (video)

Posted: 08 Feb 2018 09:03 AM PST

Thursday morning, President Trump spoke at the annual National Prayer Breakfast.

A transcript of his full remarks are published on the White House website, including the following excerpt:

Each year, this event reminds us that faith is central to American life and to liberty.  Our founders invoked our Creator four times in the Declaration of Independence.  Our currency declares, "In God We Trust."  And we place our hands on our hearts as we recite the Pledge of Allegiance and proclaim we are "One Nation Under God."

Our rights are not given to us by man; our rights come from our Creator.  No matter what, no Earthly force can take those rights away.  That is why the words "Praise be to God" are etched atop the Washington Monument, and those same words are etched into the hearts of our people.

So today, we praise God for how truly blessed we are to be American.  Across our land, we see the splendor of God's creation.  Throughout our history, we see the story of God's providence.  And in every city and town, we see the Lord's grace all around us, through a million acts of kindness, courage and generosity.  We love God.

Below is the video of his entire speech:

Pentagon: Afghanistan now top priority (video)

Posted: 08 Feb 2018 08:49 AM PST

The top commander of the American-led air campaign in Afghanistan confirmed Wednesday that the U.S. military has begun redirecting personnel and equipment from Iraq and Syria to Afghanistan, where the Pentagon intends to refocus on its fight against the Taliban.

According to Air Force Maj. Gen. James Hecker, the drawdown of major operations against ISIS in Iraq and Syria has enabled U.S. Central Command to again prioritize the war in Afghanistan, which has been ongoing for 16 years, The Washington Free Beacon reported.

“Afghanistan has become CENTCOM’s main effort thanks to the recent successes in Iraq and Syria,” Hecker said from Kabul. “This has allowed CENTCOM to shift more assets our way, which will significantly improve our ability to assist the Afghans.”

Although CENTCOM began deploying additional aircraft to the NATO-led Resolute Support coalition two weeks ago, the Pentagon’s refocus on the Afghanistan effort officially began on Feb. 1. A squadron of A-10 attack planes were included in the aircraft sent to Afghanistan, along with enough armed surveillance drones to represent a 50 percent increase in the U.S. cache of unnmanned aircraft in the country.

Hecker said that, within the next month, the “weight and effort” of the U.S. intelligence community will be shifted to Afghanistan. In preparation for the Taliban’s spring fighting season, the Pentagon is preparing to deploy up to 1,000 additional military advisers to Afghanistan.

The U.S. military has recently boosted air operations against Taliban targets near the borders of China and Tajikistan. Since Feb. 2, American B-52 bombers have dropped 24 precision-guided munitions against Taliban-affiliated training and narcotics facilities in the northeastern Afghan province of Badakhshan. The Pentagon released video on Wednesday which depicted the destruction of three separate Taliban facilities.

Hecker contended that the eradication of the training facilities will prevent the Taliban from planning terrorist attacks near Afghanistan’s border with China and Tajikistan. The airstrikes also destroyed vehicles stolen from the Afghan military by the Taliban that were being converted into improvised explosive devices.

“With the current uplift in resources, we can decimate Taliban command and control nodes,” Hecker said. “That means we can strike at the heart of training camps, where they brainwash young men to strap on a suicide vest to kill themselves and their fellow Afghans who are working to rebuild the country.”

Report: Russia penetrated voter registration rolls in 2016 (video)

Posted: 08 Feb 2018 08:13 AM PST

In a recent interview, the head of cybersecurity at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security said that the Russians successfully penetrated the voter registration of several states prior to the 2016 presidential election.

Jeanette Manfra told NBC News that she could not speak publicly about classified information, but she confirmed that in 2016, “We saw a targeting of 21 states, and an exceptionally small number of them were actually successfully penetrated.”

When asked by NBC News about the intrusions by the Russians, Jeh Johnson, who was DHS secretary when the breaches occurred, said, “2016 was a wake-up call and now it’s incumbent upon states and the Feds to do something about it before our democracy is attacked again.”

Johnson confirmed that his agency was able “to determine that the scanning and probing of voter registration databases was coming from the Russian government.”

In September 2016, NBC News reported that more than 20 states had been targeted by the Russians. Despite that report, U.S. officials claim that there is no evidence that any of the state registration rolls were altered.

Prior to leaving his post in January 2017, Johnson declared the United States’ electoral systems part of the nation’s federally protected “critical infrastructure,” a designation that applies to entities like the power grid. Johnson’s declaration made it an official duty of DHS to protect America’s electoral system.

Johnson voiced concern that, since the 2016 election, a lot of states have not taken action “to actually harden their cybersecurity.”

Manfra took issue with Johnson’s assessment, contending, “I would say they have all taken it seriously.”

NBC News contacted the 21 states that were reportedly targeted. Five of them, including Texas and California, claim that they were never attacked.

Manfra contended that the DHS’ list is accurate, but also acknowledged that it represented a “snapshot in time with the visibility that the department had at that time.”

Many of the states that were allegedly targeted complained that the federal government did not provide them specific details regarding the threats. In many cases, information that was provided was classified and state officials did not possess the proper clearances to access its contents. According to Manfra, those clearances are now being processed.

Other states reported that they were awaiting cybersecurity assistance from the federal government. Conversely, Manfra said that there was no waiting list and that DHS will offer assistance to all states affected by the breach.

Officials from some states opposed Johnson’s designation of electoral systems as critical infrastructure, viewing the declaration as a federal intrusion. Johnson contended that state officials who do not believe that the federal government should be providing cybersecurity assistance are being “naïve” and “irresponsible to the people that [they are] supposed to serve.”

Holder vows he and Obama will influence all local elections (video)

Posted: 08 Feb 2018 07:59 AM PST

Former Attorney General Eric Holder was interviewed Wednesday evening by MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow, and vowed that he and former President Obama would be “going local” in the 2018 local elections.

Maddow asked, “Are we going to really see you and president Obama out there stumping for really local offices like state House seats, where there might only be a couple thousand votes in total? These are really local elections.”

Holder responded, “We’ve got to go local. I will be in Wisconsin in April, probably the latter of March. There is a Wisconsin Supreme Court seat that is up, and I will be campaigning there.”

He said Obama will be campaigning as well, and will be going where they think his “influence will have an impact,” adding that “you’ll see him doing things that you might not expect from a former president as to the level at which he will become involved.”

Richard Pryor’s widow confirms his relationship with Marlon Brando

Posted: 08 Feb 2018 07:23 AM PST

In his recent interview with Vulture magazine, music legend Quincy Jones alleged that Richard Pryor had sex with “Godfather” actor Marlon Brando, a claim that has now been confirmed by Pryor’s widow.

"Brando used to go cha-cha dancing with us," Jones told Vulture. “He could dance his a— off. He was the most charming mother f—er you ever met. He'd f— anything. Anything! He'd f— a mailbox. James Baldwin. Richard Pryor. Marvin Gaye."

Following the publication of Jones’ interview, Jennifer Pryor told TMZ that the claim about Brando and Pryor having sex was true.

"It was the '70s!," Jennifer Pryor told TMZ. "Drugs were still good, especially Quaaludes. If you did enough cocaine, you'd f— a radiator and send it flowers in the morning."

Jennifer Pryor said that her late husband would have no shame about the revelation of his interaction with Brando, as he was always open with friends about his bisexuality. Richard Pryor reportedly documented his exploits in his diaries, which his widow plans to publish later this year.

After a history of drug problems, Richard Pryor died in December 2005 at age 65. In 1980, Pryor set himself on fire after freebasing cocaine, sustaining burns covering more than half of his body.

Brando died in July 2004 at age 80 after having had relationships with numerous women and fathering at least nine children. In the biography “Marlon Brando: The Only Contender,” Brando acknowledged having had homosexual relationships.

Macy’s launching clothing line designed for Muslim women (video)

Posted: 08 Feb 2018 07:16 AM PST

Macy’s is launching a women’s clothing line designed to appeal to Muslim women.

Partnering with the Verona Collection, a boutique brand, Macy’s intends to sell the line of modest dresses, tops, cardigans and hijabs online.

Items from the collection will be available for purchase on Macy’s website starting on Feb. 15, CNBC reported.

The clothing line, which is intended to offer Macy’s shoppers more diversity in fashion, was developed by Lisa Vogl, who graduated from Macy’s minority- and women-owned business development program.

Macy’s is the first major U.S. department store to sell hijabs. Other brands also offer products designed to appeal to Muslims, such as Nike, which, in 2017, introduced a high-performance hijab made for athletics. Mattel has announced plans to produce a doll modeled after Ibtihaj Muhammad, an American fencer who competed in the Olympics while wearing a hijab.

In reaction to the news, Robert Spencer of Jihad Watch responded, “When is Macy's launching its clothing line geared toward Jews? Christians? Hindus? Buddhists?”

“In any case, coming at a time when Iranian women are risking years in prison for daring to take off their hijabs, for Macy's to celebrate this emblem of oppression is grotesque. Untold numbers of women have been brutalized and killed for not wearing the hijab,” Spencer wrote. “In recognition of that fact, Macy's should drop this clothing line, just as it would drop a clothing line inspired by, say, the KKK or the Nazis. But it won't.”

Owners of NY religious goods store stabbed to death (video)

Posted: 08 Feb 2018 07:04 AM PST

A New York couple who owned a religious goods store in Brooklyn was stabbed to death on Wednesday night.

Officers from the New York Police Department received a 911 call reporting a robbery at a home in Prospect-Lefferts Gardens. Upon arrival, the officers discovered Stephenson Bonaparte, 65, in front of the home and Hazel Brown, 59, inside at the back of the house.

According to police, Bonaparte and Brown had just returned home from working at their store, King Soloman Religious Store, when they were attacked.

Both victims sustained several stab wounds. Brown was pronounced dead at the scene, and Bonaparte was transported to Kings County Hospital where he later died, FOX 5 TV reported.

Neighbors confirmed that Bonaparte and Brown were a couple who had adult children, and grandchildren. One of their adult children lived with them in their Brooklyn home and reportedly heard the attack.

Police are investigating the murders and have not yet established whether a robbery also occurred. No one has been arrested in association with the crimes, and authorities are still seeking the attacker. Witnesses who saw the perpetrator run from the scene described him as a black male with a medium build who was wearing a ski mask.

Kim Jong Un teases U.S. with giant military parade (video)

Posted: 08 Feb 2018 06:50 AM PST

While the hostile antagonism between North Korea and the U.S. has tampered down due to President Trump’s intervention, Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un is highlighting his country’s power by hosting a military parade before the Winter Olympics.

The parade was held Thursday, just a day before the opening ceremonies.

The Associated Press reports the following:

“PYEONGCHANG, South Korea (AP) — North Korean leader Kim Jong Un presided over an extravagant military parade in Pyongyang's Kim Il Sung Square on Thursday, grabbing the spotlight on the eve of the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics in South Korea to thumb his nose at Washington while making a point of showing off his new-found restraint toward Seoul.

The parade itself had been anticipated for weeks.

North Korea announced last month that it would hold a big event to mark the 70th anniversary of the founding of its military.

But instead of broadcasting the morning event live, North Korean television aired an edited version later in the day, giving it a somewhat lower profile than expected. The parade was also shorter and featured fewer missiles than the previous one, which was held in April last year and unveiled five new kinds of missiles — surprising analysts and generating headlines worldwide.

This time, Kim fine-tuned his more fiery rhetoric toward Washington.”

Bush: Russia meddled in U.S. election

Posted: 08 Feb 2018 06:23 AM PST

The latest advocate to espouse the theory of Russia’s meddling in the U.S. presidential election is former President George W. Bush.

On Thursday, Bush flat out stated that "there's pretty clear evidence that the Russians meddled" in the U.S. election.

The Associated Press reports the following:

“ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Former President George W. Bush said on Thursday that "there's pretty clear evidence that the Russians meddled" in the 2016 American presidential election, forcefully rebutting fellow Republican Donald Trump's denials of Moscow trying to affect the vote.

While never mentioning President Trump by name, Bush appeared to be pushing back on Trump's attempts to have warmer relations with Russia, as well as his comments on immigration.

The White House did not immediately comment on Bush's remarks.

"There's pretty clear evidence that the Russians meddled," Bush said at a talk in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates. "Whether they affected the outcome is another question."

Bush also said that "it's problematic that a foreign nation is involved in our election system. Our democracy is only as good as people trust the results."”

NY Times takes a financial hit

Posted: 08 Feb 2018 06:16 AM PST

The New York Times Co (NYT.N) reported a fourth-quarter loss, compared with a year-ago profit, due to higher costs as the publisher invests heavily to boost online subscriptions amid declining print sales.

The company posted a net loss of $57.8 million, or 35 cents per share, in the quarter ended Dec. 31, compared with a profit of $37.6 million, or 23 cents per share, a year earlier.

Total revenue rose 10 percent to $484.1 million.

The company claimed it had seen a big pop in subscriptions and web traffic during the campaign and when Trump took office.  But Trump, who often slams the outlet as being fake news, has often said the paper in on the decline.

Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., gave an 8 hour speech to the House of Representatives Wednesday.

The speech was in response to a budget deal reached by Senate leaders regarding a vote on an immigration agreement.

However, not everyone was interested in the speech. Democratic Rep. Doris Matsui was caught on camera dozing off during Pelosi’s long winded soliloquy.

Muslim activist targets and criticizes Chuck Schumer

Posted: 08 Feb 2018 05:56 AM PST

Linda Sarsour, a Muslim activist known for her controversial statements, is targeting and criticizing Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer for being a white man.

Sarsour made the comment at the Women's March in D.C. Wednesday, claiming Schumer is not a strong ally for minorities and women.

“Anti-semite and pro-Palestinian activist Linda Sarsour wore her hat as the co-founder of the anti-Trump Women's March at a rally in the nation's capital on Wednesday, calling out President Donald Trump as a white supremacist and warning Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) as Congress negotiates immigration reform.

"I'm talking to Chuck Schumer," Sarsour said. "I'm tired of white men negotiating on the backs of people of color and communities like ours."

"We are not bargaining chips," Sarsour said. "This is not a poker game."

Despite the rally branded, "A Day of Action Against Trump's White Supremacy," Sarsour and other speakers expressed support for amnesty for not only the 800,000 illegal aliens protected from deportation under the Obama-era Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA, but all of the estimated 11 million here illegally.

DML: I Respond to Some of Your Emails

Posted: 08 Feb 2018 05:45 AM PST

Today, like every day, I respond to some of the messages you sent me.

To send me a message use the submit news link.

FROM KRISTEN
Hi Dennis! Thank you for having Mr Cutler on last night. He, like you, mesmerizes me when he talks about immigration. I've been kind of on the fence about some of the aspects of DACA and all the other immigration arguments but not anymore. What a great show! Thanks for all you do.

DML: Better late than never.  Glad you found value in the program.

FROM ZACH
Hey DML was wondering if you watched Laura’s show last night. She had Dick Morris on and some liberal guest discussing the Clintons. Laura would cut Dick off in mid sentence, then let her liberal guest pipe in… basically taking control of most of the debates. I know Dick is more of a talker than a debater, but when the host cuts you off at key points it makes it an up hill battle. I don’t know if it is Laura or her producers doing this but it seemed to me Laura was leaning to the right last night. Would like to hear your take on it if you saw it.

DML: Leaning to the right?  She’s a conservative. Did you mean leaning to the left?  Either way, I do not watch FOX NEWS.  I used to have Dick on all the time when I hosts DML UNFILTERED.  I would let him speak at length. He once told the CEO that I was the only person who understood good TV.   You have to let guests speak, or it’s useless to have them on. It’s not the producers, it’s Laura.  She and Sean are known for cutting off their guests, and it’s not only rude but crappy TV.  Last night, I had on Michael Cutlet on my 5:30pm LIVE.  I ask a question and I let him speak uninterrupted at times for 3 minutes a clip.  Some hosts have a desire to be the smartest person in the room no matter the topic.  You, meanwhile, get a whole lot of nothing in return.

FROM AJ
President Trump is all over the place with his commitments, points of view, promises, etc. I feel like I voted for a chameleon who keeps changing its colors. Had I known then, compared to what I know now, I'm not sure I would have voted for President Trumpealeon. What a mess!

DML:  Trump has done some really good things, but if we want to be honest with ourselves, there are a lot of unwritten chapters.  Examples…A buddy of mine works at traffic court.  Says numbers of illegals standing in front of the judge for driving without a license is skyrocketing, meaning more illegals are coming across the border in large waves.  Meanwhile, our Obamacare bills still come in the mail and it’s like paying a second mortgage… there is no end in site.  Trump doesn’t even address healthcare anymore.  During the campaign, Trump said US would withdraw from Afghanistan, but as president not only has he stayed in, he upped the war effort with thousands of new troops. This year the war is costing us $45B.  Iran deal was supposed to be ripped up, but the “worst deal of all time” is still in place.  War on drugs was a top talking point during the campaign, but with Trump in office it’s a complete mess as overdoses and drug flow have increased in the past 12-months. NAFTA is still in place, in case you are wondering. And my kids continue to do common core math.  But do not fret, Twitter stock is up today.

FROM RASBERRIES
Nancy’s speech. Isn’t there any way to get a representative to fill that room with AMERICAN CITIZENS to fight for the American DREAM? You know we could fill that room and go much longer than 8 hours without pay.

DML: There is no money in fighting for Americans.  Especially if you’re white.  You have too many privileges already.  Stop complaining and start supporting amnesty.  Get with the polling already rasberries. President says 7 in 10 Americans want Dreamers to be citizens.

FROM RYAN
Very good interview on 2/7.  I’ll email it to everyone I know. Personally, my biggest fear with immigration is losing our culture. I did make this site to make it easier to contact Congress and the WH. https://stopdaca.org

DML: I will push your URL…. https://stopdaca.org

Gay Olympic athlete addresses VP Pence feud

Posted: 08 Feb 2018 05:24 AM PST

Last month, U.S. Olympic figure skater Adam Rippon criticized Vice President Mike Pence openly, stating he is not a champion for gay rights.

Rippon, who is gay himself, is now telling media outlets that he does not want his quarrel with Pence to be the main topic of focus when he competes in Seoul Friday.

“Openly gay U.S. Olympic figure skater Adam Rippon doesn’t want his disagreement with Vice President Mike Pence to distract from his ultimate goal: performing at his best and making his country proud at the Winter Olympics in Seoul.

Rippon, who is one of two openly gay men competing for the U.S. at the Winter Olympics, took aim at Pence in January for what the skater said were the vice president’s anti-gay views. However, the figure skater recently said that he wants to focus on the games.

“I don’t want to make this too much for my competitors and for my teammates,” Rippon said after an afternoon practice session Thursday. “I’m just kind of focused on the competition. The opening ceremony is tomorrow. I don’t mind talking about it but I don’t want to distract my teammates.”

What Rippon jokingly referred to as “brouhaha” began with an interview with USA Today last month in which he called Pence, among other things, a hypocrite for espousing Christian virtues while standing by some of the divisive and inflammatory statements made by President Donald Trump.

“If he’s OK with what’s being said about people and Americans and foreigners and about different countries,” Rippon said, “I think he should really go to church.””

Musk posts final photo of Tesla Roadster headed to asteroid belt (video)

Posted: 08 Feb 2018 04:59 AM PST

Elon Musk, the CEO of SpaceX and Telsa, on Wednesday posted the final photograph of his Tesla Roadster that was launched into space on a SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket and is headed to the astroid belt.

Musk wrote in the Instagram post, "Last pic of Starman in Roadster enroute to Mars Orbit and then the Asteroid Belt."

Tuesday’s launch marked the rocket's first test flight and is the most powerful rocket since the Saturn V’s used in the Apollo missions.

Test vehicles usually carry concrete or steel blocks, the newpaper reported, but Musk said that would be "extremely boring."

"We decided to send something unusual, something that made us feel," Musk told the publication.

Scientists believe that radiation will tear the car into pieces within a year.

Nunes considered pressing Supreme Court Justice in FISA probe

Posted: 08 Feb 2018 04:53 AM PST

A Supreme Court Justice may be asked to testify.

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes, R-Calif., said Wednesday the panel has mulled inviting Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts to testify as a part of the panel's investigation into the FISA courts.

In an interview with radio host Hugh Hewitt, Nunes said that questioning Roberts over his findings of intelligence abuse by the Justice Department and FBI during the 2016 Trump campaign was something the panel "grappled with." As chief justice, Roberts appoints FISA court judges.

Last week the House Intelligence Committee released a four-page memo, written by Nunes, alleging intelligence abuse by the DOJ and FBI during the 2016 Trump campaign, citing a high-ranking government official who said both agencies never would have sought surveillance warrants in the absence of a disputed anti-Trump dossier funded by Democrats. Meanwhile, Democrats are waiting for President Trump to release their version of the FISA memo.
