Coming Soon! Extraterrestrial Culture Day

Posted: 09 Feb 2018 01:36 PM PST

Coming February 13th, mark your calendars for a little ET fun!

Whether you believe that little colored martians crashed in Roswell or not, New Mexico decided to capitalize on the 1947 incident. Ever since 2003 New Mexico has set a day aside to "celebrate all past, present and future extraterrestrial visitors in ways to enhance relationships among all citizens of the cosmos, known and unknown."  Every second Tuesday of February, you can find people gathering in Roswell, New Mexico to get a piece of the cultural life of their alien visitors.

Celebrate in an alien way

If you don’t make it down to Roswell for the day, send us a snippet or snapshot of how you, or your tribe celebrated Extraterrestrial Culture Day! If you are planning to prepare a cosmic dinner or drink, dress up as an alien, or recite poems of your supposed past life on other planets, we want to hear about it! Share the fun with us!

Extraterrestrial Day is a day to show otherworldly life a little decency in the fact that you want to get to know more about them, and that you welcome them to visit and get to know more about us.  Think of how scary it must be for an outsider to meet a human for the first time.  Some aliens do not get that warm and fuzzy feeling about us.  Think about the way we treat each other, our planet, and the lifeforms whom are vulnerable to our power here.

As a species, it is time to question ourselves more

Are we using our power of superiority on this planet in a justifiable manner to all “lower” lifeforms?

  • Did I really need to squish that bug, was it going to kill me?
  • Flowers are beautiful, but is my enjoyment of them for two days worth their death?
  • Maybe I could be doing more to help my pet build their cognitive skills.
  • I wonder if all the insects underground are suffering from the chemicals I poured on the grass?  Is is effecting the grass, and the animals that eat or play in the grass?
  • Am I reinforcing the pollution of our planet by the products I continue to purchase?
  • Am I reinforcing ill-patterned behaviors by being a bystander?

It is easy to see why extraterrestrials may be hesitant to get too close to humans.  And yet there are other species who are as deeply fascinated with finding out more about us, as we are with them.

Let us continue to evolve with these ever-changing cosmos and planet.  We will learn to work together despite our differences.  After all, we all want to feel accepted and loved.  May we stay steadfast in raising our vibration and sending out the energy we will aspire to.
