TAMPA -– Thousands of gun enthusiasts flocked to the Florida State Fairgrounds for the Florida Gun Show event.
Organizers say they had a record number of people attend the event on Saturday, almost 7,000, and expect more Sunday.
Manager for the Florida Gun Show, George Fernandez, says they've never seen such a big crowd.
The company canceled the show in Fort Lauderdale next month after the Mayor asked them to show respect to the victims of the Stoneman Douglas shooting earlier this month.
With the heated debate over gun control staying front and center, Fernandez expressed concerns over proposed gun laws possibly restricting gun owners.
"Some of the people attending are afraid that future legislation will impact their gun ownership rights," he says.
Florida lawmakers like Senator Bill Nelson want stricter laws to fix the so-called “Gun show loophole” which allows people to buy a gun at one of these events without getting a background check.

It has been revealed that the infamous 19-year-old Florida school shooter who killed 17 people after he opened fire at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School called the police distressed after his mother passed away just months ago.
Nikolas Cruz called authorities just after Thanksgiving, saying he had been in a fight and was struggling with the death of his mother. ‘The thing is I lost my mother a couple of weeks ago, so like I am dealing with a bunch of things right now,’ he told police.
On January 5, just a month before the shooting, a woman who knew Cruz called the FBI tip line and said ‘I know he’s going to explode. ‘She said her biggest fear was that he might resort to entering a school and just start ‘shooting the place up.’
Forty days later Cruz opened fire at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida killing 17 people and injuring fourteen, five with life-threatening injuries.

( Daily Caller ) Republicans noted several other omissions in their rebuttal to the Democratic memo.
"The Democrat memo ignores the fact that the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and Hillary Clinton campaign paid for the Steele dossier, which— as confirmed by the Graham-Grassley referral —formed "a significant portion of the Carter Page FISA application," the Republican rebuttal states.
"Amazingly, the Democrat memo does not contain a single reference to the DNC or Clinton campaign, or acknowledge that they funded the dossier, or admit that this information was not provided to the FISA Court."
"The Democrat memo confirms that a September 2016 Yahoo News article by Michael Isikoff was part of the FISA application. However, the memo ignores the fact that the FBI failed to subsequently inform the Court that Steele provided information to Yahoo News," the GOP rebuttal adds. "Isikoff has publicly confirmed Steele was a source for his article about Page."
Republicans claim the Democratic memo also "paints an incomplete picture of Page's past activities, and omits that, in a secretly-taped statement reproduced in a 2015 federal court filing, a Russian intelligence officer called Page "an idiot."
