PARIS: Designer Andreas Kronthaler made a touching declaration of love to his wife Vivienne Westwood at their lapel's storming Paris fashion show Saturday.
The flamboyant Austrian creator - who many including himself believe is the basis for comedian Sacha Baron Cohen's 2009 fashion satire "Bruno" - pulled out all the stops in a joyous romp of a collection that put his spin on the Queen of Punk's iconoclastic career.
"I don't like looking back, it's not my way," Kronthaler, who took the reins of the brand two years ago, told AFP.

CAIRO: Egypt's tourist authority announced that four direct flights will connect Kiev in Ukraine with Cairo from April.

Hisham Al-Demeiry, head of the General Authority for Tourism Development said "it is a great opportunity to welcome Ukranian tourists to other Egyptian tourism sites like Luxor, Aswan and Cairo"

Demeiry announcement came at a meeting held in Sharm Al Sheikh for the tourism industry with more than 200 delegates attending the event aimed at improving the tourism sector in Egypt.

GUATEMALA CITY: Guatemala's Constitutional Court has rejected a local lawyer's attempt to prevent the government from moving its embassy in Israel to Jerusalem, as the US plans to do, a court spokesman said Saturday.
Spokesman Santiago Palomo told AFP that the high court's five magistrates turned down a request from lawyer Marco Vinicio Mejia, who argued in a petition filed in January that the embassy move was contrary to international law.

DUBLIN/LONDON: Airports reopened and public transport began to grind back into service on Saturday after the worst snowstorms in nearly 30 years caused two days of major disruption in Britain and shut most of Ireland.
A blast of Siberian cold dubbed "the Beast from the East" combined with Storm Emma's arrival from the south to ground planes, shut schools and in Ireland, knock out the entire public transport network with weather rarely seen in either country.

White House on lockdown after shots fired outside

WASHINGTON: The White House was placed on lockdown and the surrounding area cordoned off by emergency personnel Saturday after an apparent gunshot was heard.
The US Secret Service said on Twitter that it was responding "to reports of a person who allegedly suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound along the north fence line of @White House."
It said medical personnel were "responding to the male victim," but that there were "no other reported injuries."
The victim's identity was not immediately known.

DUBAI: Roberto Bautista Agut came from a break down in the second set to win his second title of the season on Saturday, beating Lucas Pouille, 6-3, 6-4, at the Dubai Championships.
The Spaniard claimed the eighth trophy of his career with an 81-minute victory over the French second seed.
The loss prevents number 15 Pouille climbing into the ranking top 10 for the first time.
"This is a special win that I'll always remember, I'm so happy that I could win," Bautista Agut said. .

ISLAMABAD: Only one in four women in Pakistan is involved in the nation's labor force despite a 50 percent increase in women's participation rates over the past 15 years, a United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and Empowerment of Women (UN Women) survey found.
UN Women and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) released the findings of a study into women's representation and access to decision-making roles in the civil service on Friday. The survey was carried out under UNDP's global Gender Equality in Public Administration (GEPA) initiative.
