You may know him as Georgie, the boy who talked to Pennywise through the sewer drain one fateful rainy day in Derry in the new IT movie, but Jackson Robert Scott is wasting no time taking on other roles in the genre, as the young actor will play one of the lead roles in an untitled horror movie from director Nicholas McCarthy (The Pact) and screenwriter Jeff Buhler (The Midnight Meat Train), which is in development at Orion Pictures:

Press Release:Los Angeles March 2, 2018 — Orion Pictures announced today that breakout star Jackson Robert Scott will play the young lead in Nicholas McCarthy's upcoming untitled horror film, formerly known as Descendant, the announcement was made today by John Hegeman, President, Orion Pictures. Scott, most recently seen as Georgie Denbrough in the blockbuster Stephen King adaptation of It, joins previously announced Golden Globe and Emmy nominee Taylor Schilling (Orange Is the New Black). Nicholas McCarthy (The Pact) will direct from an original screenplay by Jeff Buhler (The Midnight Meat Train).

The film tells the story of a mother who, concerned about her young son's disturbing behavior, thinks something supernatural may be affecting him. Production is expected to begin this month in Toronto.

The project is produced by Tripp Vinson (The Rite, The Exorcism of Emily Rose). Daniel Bekerman, Lisa Zambri, Nick Spicer and Jeff Buhler will executive produce.

Scott's portrayal of Georgie in Andy Muschietti's It helped to propel the film's tremendous success as the highest grossing horror film of all time bringing in $700 million at the global box office. Scott will soon reunite with Muschietti having earned a lead role in his upcoming one hour horror/fantasy drama adaptation of the IDW comic Locke & Key for Hulu.  His other credits include guest spots in Fear the Walking Dead and Criminal Minds.

Photos & Preview Videos for THE WALKING DEAD Episode 8.11, Titled “Dead or Alive Or”

Posted: 05 Mar 2018 05:21 AM PST

With survivors scattered in the wake of The Saviors' attack on Alexandria, not everyone is seeing eye to eye on what the next move should be, and tensions rise in our photos and preview videos for the next episode of The Walking Dead, titled "Dead or Alive Or."

The Walking Dead Episode 8.11 – "Dead or Alive Or": "Daryl finds himself in bad company as his group heads to the Hilltop; Maggie makes difficult decisions at the Hilltop; Gabriel's faith becomes tested."

"Dead or Alive Or" premieres on Sunday, March 11th at 9:00pm ET on AMC. Keep an eye out for more updates on The Walking Dead right here on Daily Dead, and check here for our previous season 8 coverage.

The Walking Dead Season 8B synopsis: "All out war has had a devastating impact on every person involved. The communities themselves are fractured. Alexandria has been destroyed, the Hilltop finds themselves pinned, and the Kingdom is shattered -- half of them dead, the other half controlled by the Saviors.

At the very center -- Rick, having been distracted by the conflict, has just returned home to learn that Carl, who heroically shepherded the Alexandrians to safety during Negan's attack, has been bitten by a walker. Once his sole motivation in this otherwise stark existence, Rick is forced to deal with this reality. Carl has always been a beacon of hope, a symbol for the remaining thread of humanity -- lessons that the survivors around him would be wise to take with them as this war surges onward.

But Rick isn't the only person who's living in peril. Aaron and Enid are in a dire situation at Oceanside -- unclear if they're in friendly territory, or if they've just made new enemies. Father Gabriel will do his part in attempting to smuggle Dr. Carson safely back to the Hilltop and a pregnant Maggie is wrestling with the many moral gray areas that come with leadership during war. In a standoff with the Saviors, she must decide how to proceed with the dozens of POW lives she's currently in control of, as well as new complications that come with being a leader.

In addition to the war, Negan continues to deal with struggles within his ranks as workers, traitors, and others' thirst for power cause conflict at the Sanctuary. Having gifted the Saviors a major victory, Eugene's loyalty is repeatedly tested as new obstacles present themselves.

As all-out-war consumes us, the line between good and evil continues to blur. People fighting for what they believe in. Everybody working together for something bigger -- to feel safe and have a world worth living in."

Jordan Peele Wins Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay

Posted: 04 Mar 2018 07:50 PM PST

From the bottomless depths of the Sunken Place to a mysterious laboratory in Baltimore, 2017 was a monumental year for horror, sci-fi, and fantasy on the big screen. Back in January, several landmark genre movies from the past year were nominated for Academy Awards, and that celebration continues under the big lights at the Oscars tonight, with Jordan Peele winning the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay.

Jordan Peele won the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay in a category that featured four other impressive titles, including The Big Sick, Lady Bird, The Shape of Water, and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. A masterclass in psychological, physical, and socially relevant horror, Get Out's award is a huge win for the horror genre and puts the icing on Peele's breakout year behind the camera. We can't wait to see the thought-provoking projects he'll bring to the big screen in the future, and we're pleased to see the hard work of the movie's cast and crew celebrated on Hollywood's biggest night.
