The pop superstar has shared memories of a pivotal moment from her childhood that she says inspired her to pursue a career as a singer.

Clarkson told Cosmopolitan about the mysterious stranger who approached her at a school talent show when she was 13 to lavish her with praise for her vocals after a performance of Mariah Carey’s “Visions of Love.”

She assumed the older man was a grandfather of a fellow student when he sought her out after the performance but was stunned by what he said: "That was so amazing, you're gonna do this for the rest of your life."

"I don't even think I said 'thank you,'” Clarkson recalled. “I was taken aback because I'd never received any kind of compliment like that. It was a really pivotal moment for someone to come up to me and instill that confidence at such a young age,” she added. “From that moment, all I focused on was singing, whether it was getting a scholarship for college or trying out for [American] Idol."

All these years later, and Clarkson still thinks about the mysterious stranger with such kind words.

"Was he real?," she wondered out loud. “We all have these moments in our life that are so pivotal… that really was that fork in the road that sent [me] on a completely different path."

Harry Styles Signs March for Our Lives Petition Calling for Gun Control

The petition calls for three specific gun reform measures: banning the sale of assault weapons, banning high-capacity magazines and closing the “gun show loophole.” Such loopholes currently allow buyers to circumvent background check laws by purchasing weapons at shows or online.

Under current laws, the petition argues that “millions of guns…could be falling into dangerous hands.”

“The children of this country can no longer go to school in fear that each day could be their last,” it concludes.

It’s become a calling card for his credibility in the hip-hop game — yet since its release, his A-list music friends have stopped calling.

When asked about famous pals like Kanye West, Drake and Donald Glover (a.k.a. Childish Gambino), Jaden says things just haven’t been the same since Syre peaked at #24 on the Billboard albums chart.

“It's really changed,” he told Complex. “I always felt like Little Homie before and that allowed me in all of their circles. But now that I'm on the charts next to them, I'm not really Little Homie anymore.”

The actor, style icon and celebrity offspring said his new status as a serious rapper made his social life weird. Could Drake and Yeezy feel threatened by Syre‘s impact?

“It's more like, ‘You can't hang out with us anymore,” Smith said. “We didn't know you were making an album this whole time. We thought you were just Little Homie giving us free water and s—. You're not really cool with us anymore.'”
