While some believe that The Weeknd used Selena Gomez to boost his fame, the relationship between Selena and Justin Bieber has a lot more critics -- and a lot more fans.
Justin has apparently bared his soul and, it is reported, believes that the two of them are literally destined to be together.
But what does Selena want?
HollywoodLife reports that Justin Bieber is giving Selena space and letting her decide if and when they might get back together.
"Justin is leaving everything up to Selena when it comes to their next move -- if there is one."
That's usually how breaks work. It takes one to break up, but it takes two to reconcile.
"He's laid his cards out on the table and made it clear what he wants, and what he thinks."
Since Justin's already poured out his heart, the ball's in her court.
"So now it's up to Selena to decide."
The source goes on to extoll the virtues and maturity of Justin in this time of uncertainty.
"Justin is actually being super cool about the situation."
When a source close to a celebrity says something that optimistic and complimentary, many take it with a grain of salt.
Continuing, the source says that Justin is stepping back to give her the breathing room required to make a decision without pressure.
"And he's giving Selena all the time and space she needs"
That's good. Never be pushy over something this delicate, folks.
Even while giving her space, the Biebs has reportedly made his own intentions transparent.
"He's made it clear that he's not going anywhere, and that he will always be here for her."
So apparently Justin's reported dalliance with Baskin Champion is just, what? A way to pass the time?
We hope that she knows that.
But Justin believes that getting back with Selena (again) is inevitable.
"In his heart of hearts, Justin knows that Selena will come back to him, it's just a case of when."
"But, they're destined to be together, that's one thing Justin really is certain of in life."
Ah yes. Famously, life's only real certainties are death, taxes, and Jelena.
But what does Selena Gomez want?
We're talking about an accomplished actress, a social media master, and one of the most talented singers on the planet.
Also, she's a person. You don't have to be the singer of "Naturally" or "Kill 'Em With Kindness" to deserve autonomy and self-determination.
Recently, she's been spending time with friends and with people from her church -- Hillsong Church, the same global megachurch to which the Biebs belongs.
Will absense make the heart grow fonder?
Or was this most recent Jelena reunion a reminder of why they'd broken up in the first place?
Justin may believe that God blesses his relationship with Selena, but it's not clear that she feels that way any longer.
It's possible to be devoutly religious without believing that your romantic life is divinely ordained.
But we have to wonder how Justin will respond if, in a few months or a few years, Selena still hasn't come crawling back for his once-hot bod.
Maybe he'll accept it and move on. He's shown signs of maturity in recent months.
Or maybe Justin will be the one thing that Selena just can't quit. We'll all find out.

Last week, Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra appeared on Kailyn Lowry's Coffee Convos podcast for a surprisingly candid interview that touched on a wide range of topics.
The portions in which Catelynn and Tyler discussed their desire to have another baby rightfully received the most attention, but there were plenty of gems hidden throughout the episode.
Take for example, Tyler's account of his fight with Michael Abraham, father of former Teen Mom OG star and A-list cam girl, Farrah Abraham.
After describing Farrah's family as "a whole different breed" (an apt statement, if ever there was one), Baltierra claimed that Michael challenged him to a physical fight on the set of a TMOG reunion special.
"Michael is actually a very interesting character," Tyler said on the podcast.
"I never actually told anybody this but he physically got in my face and wanted to fight me about two reunions ago!"
Not one to take anything lying down (unless it's verbal abuse from his daughter, in which case, he smiles and asks for more), Michael issued a statement to The Ashley's Reality Roundup, in which he offered his side of the story:
"The reason why Tyler 'never actually told anyone' is because it NEVER HAPPENED," Michael wrote.
"Everyone knows that if that would have happened the production company and MTV would have aired it as a public relations stunt. The world knows that MTV films everything and everybody at all reunion shows."
We hate to say it, as Michael is generally not to be trusted, but that's a pretty solid argument.
As for Tyler's claim that the on-set security pushed Michael onto a couch, Abraham says that scuffle only took place in Tyler's mind:
"I have NEVER been pushed down on a couch by security at any reunion show filming," Michael wrote.
"The only time reunion security had to do anything with me physically was when they were protecting me during the time that Matt Baier attacked and assaulted me three reunion ago."
Ah, yes. Who could forget the famous Farrah vs. Amber fight?
It really wasn't all that long ago, so it's pretty funny that Michael is acting like it's just preposterous that anyone in his family would throw down in the presence of Dr. Drew.
Anyway, Killer Mike goes on to actually praise the Baltierras, and he claims that over the years, he's formed a close relationship with both Tyler and Catelynn.
"It's a shame that Tyler and Cate have to make up stories like this," Michael's statement continued.
"The last time I was face-to-face with them I shook his hand and hugged her to mend our relationship after the strain that Matt's assault on me caused between everyone on the show.
"I've also gone to the extent of complimenting him (Tyler) as being an excellent father this last year repeatedly on social media as he cared for Nova during the time Cate was in rehab."
Michael concluded his lengthy commentary on the matter by claiming that he and Tyler are two peas in a pod.
We're guessing Ty won't be taking that as a compliment:
"Tyler and Cate's dad Dave are just like me– we will do anything to love, care and protect our daughters," Michael said.
"It's so sad that even after we (Farrah and her family) have moved on and have wished everyone the very best, the hate from others continues and there is no valid reason for it."
"We are extremely happy and living our lives in a healthy and positive way, why can't everyone else do the same?"
Hmm ... a surprisingly non-psychotic-sounding statement from a usually psychotic source.
Of course, Michael has successfully convinced himself that Farrah freakin' Abraham is an ideal daughter, so it's important to bear in mind that the man suffers from some pretty severe delusions.
Watch Teen Mom OG online to remind yourself of the many ways in which the Abrahams are not of this planet.

We have good news, readers:
Teens across the country are using condoms more than ever before.
But we also have some bad news:
These teens are not necessarily using the condoms for safe sex.
Instead of wrapping the condom around their penis or their partner's penis, these people are sucking the prophylactics through their noses and then taking them out of their mouths.
We're not kidding:
Just like past idiotic trends such as the Tide Pods challenge, something called the "Condom Snorting Challenge" is sadly sweeping the nation.
Videos of teens doing taking this ridiculous action have been on the Internet for years, but there's been a new proliferation in recent days.
Needless to say, although we will anyway, condoms can be a choking hazard; they can also cause appendicitis if swallowed.
Moreover, they can cause an allergic reaction... and it’s even possible that nasal passages and/or sinuses could get infected because nothing but air is supposed to pass through them.
They really are not meant to be a corridor for condoms is the point here.
Does this look remotely enjoyable?
Or worth doing just so you can gain a few new followers on social media?
We guess the answers have to be yes, for some people out there at least.
For others, it's simply enjoyable to sit back and make fun of these individuals.
Check out the video below for more on this condom challenge and to try and understand why it's actually happening:

Wendy Williams is digging into the lyrics of The Weeknd's new, sad music and into all that was said of his past relationship with Selena Gomez.
And she thinks that The Weeknd is making himself seem more tender and vulnerable than he actually is in order to endear himself to fans.
We don't normally say this, but ... Wendy may be right about this. You'll have to watch the video below and decide for yourself.
Even though Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez have broken up -- to some degree -- Selena hasn't gone running back to The Weeknd.
In fact, she headed down to go yachting in Australia.
The Weeknd, in the mean time, released a new EP, titled My Dear Melancholy.
In it, he appears to confess a lot of tender feelings, a lot of vulnerabilities, and ... that he almost gave Selena Gomez his kidney.
Wendy Williams believes that this is an act.
"I do not believe that in a 10-month relationship, The Weeknd was all goo-goo-ga-ga over Selena Gomez."
It's not that Wendy doesn't believe that Selena is lovable. It's just that she doesn't think that The Weeknd is all that emotional.
And she has other doubts.
"And I do not believe for a minute he was about to give her his kidney."
To be clear, he doesn't explicitly state that he offered his kidney ... but his lyrics seem to imply that he was willing to undergo a transplant.
"You [The Weeknd] pull on the heartstrings of lonely girls [with your music] who actually believe a man would actually fall in love and give up a kidney and all that stuff."
Wendy Williams doesn't seem to have a very optimistic view of men. But you know what? That's fair.
And she sees what he has to gain from all of this.
"That is great album sales for The Weekend, and it makes him seem like this guy you want to throw your panties at."
Wendy goes on to accuse The Weeknd of having used Selena as a stepping stone to increase his own fame.
"The Weeknd, you used this relationship for exactly what it was."
"Because a lot of people did not know exactly who you were before you got with her…"
That is true. Sure, his music played on the radio and he has fans who've been with him so long that they still call him by his real name, Abel.
But his star is brighter than ever now that he just spent 10 months dating one of the most famous, talented women on the planet -- and after having his photos featured on the world's most followed Instagram account.
"You got the best end of this deal particularly, The Weekend."
Wendy cites what she sees as another problem with the fallout from The Weeknd's relationship with Selena.
"And Selena ended up going back to Justin Bieber, and her mother isn’t happy about it."
While Wendy doesn't seem to know Mandy Teefey's name, and even refers to her as "Ms. Gomez" at one point ...
(Admittedly, it's possible that some of us are more invested in Selena Gomez than others)
... Wendy is very complimentary towards Mandy, and plays a brief blurb in which Mandy disavows any knowledge of Selena's current love life.
As we all know, Selena and her mother were feuding about her rekindled romance with Justin, but Selena and Mandy are getting along better than they were when they first came into conflict.
Wendy may be a little unfair to The Weeknd, here.
But many people find it hard to believe that there was ever any real chance that he'd give Selena his kidney. (But, hey, sometimes complete strangers donate organs to each other)
And it's difficult to dispute that his relationship with Selena helped him.
It's similarly hard to disagree with the fact that his perceived emotional sensitivity and tenderness is going to, as Wendy says, get girls to want to throw their panties at him.
Watch this video and decide for yourself if Wendy is actually right about this.

Meghan Markle is soon to be a member of the royal family.
And that means she'll soon be subjected to a level of scrutiny that's unfathomable to Americans who aren't among the one percent of A-list celebrities.
We've known for quite some time that a Markle tell-all by famed royal biographer Andrew Morton is on the way, but early press about the book suggested it would contain very few salacious tidbits.
For the most part, Morton is respectful toward his royal subjects, and as a result, he's been granted unprecedented access to the inner-workings of Buckingham Palace.
But he also has to sell books to a reading public with the attention span of a small rodent on bath salts.
Thus, he's expected to deliver a handful of lightly scandalous insights into life behind palace walls, and based on newly-released excerpts, Meghan: A Hollywood Princess doesn't disappoint.
It seems The Sun has been publishing tidbits all week, and they started things off on an endearing note with a portion about Meghan's long-standing love for Princess Diana:
"According to family friends, she was intrigued by Diana, not just for her style, but for her independent humanitarian mission, seeing her as a role model," Morton writes.
One associate of Markle's is quoted as saying the actress "wants to be Princess Diana 2.0."
A little weird for Harry, but we're sure the Brits ate it up.
Naturally, Morton can't ignore the elephant in the room regarding Meghan's past.
We're talking of course about the fact that Markle is divorced, which is apparently something that elderly Britons are having a hard time getting over.
One insider claims that Meghan dumped her first husband, Trevor Engelson, in brutal fashion:
"A wealthy entrepreneur friend claimed the marriage ended so abruptly that Meghan sent Trevor her diamond wedding and engagement rings back by registered mail," Morton writes.
"Another (friend) confirmed that the decision to end the marriage was made by Meghan and had come 'totally out of the blue.'"
Aside from the inevitable details about Meghan's sketchy sister, that might be as scandalous a passage as you'll find in Hollywood Princess.
Of course, the detail that's sure to win Meghan the most fans on this side of the pond comes to us courtesy of Markle's days as a "briefcase girl" on the early 2000s game show Deal or No Deal.
Aside from Howie Mandel's OCD, the stars of the show were a bunch of twenty-something models, so naturally, Donald Trump paid an unannounced visit to the set one day.
And it seems Meg wanted nothing to do with Ol' Yellow Eyes:
"Fellow briefcase girl Tameka Jacobs told me, 'He was super-creepy, but some girls were attracted to money and power and took his number," Morton claims.
"Meghan was one of the girls who gave him a wide berth."
Morton goes on to say that despite rumors to the contrary it seems unlikely that any Trumps will be invited to the royal wedding.
We're sure that snub will go over well.
In other words, get ready for nuclear war with the UK, folks!
Should be a doozy.

Amber Portwood is not in a good place right now.
But then again, she's never been in a good place, not once in all the years we've known her, so it's to be expected at this point.
After years of dealing with drug addiction and massive anger management problems and, you know, prison, not to mention the supreme creepiness of Matt Baier ...
She's been through a lot, to say the least.
So now that she's settled down a little bit, since she's cut Matt loose and found a new creeper to play house with and since she's pregnant again, you'd think things would be easier, right?
At least a little bit.
But if you honestly thought that, then you must not be too familiar with Ms. Portwood.
While it looks like she gets along better with Andrew Glennon than she did with Matt, we don't imagine that will be the case forever -- Andrew has two exes with restraining orders against him, so a happy ending with Teen Mom's OG felon doesn't seem likely.
And while it may look like she's in a better situation to have a child now than she was when she was a broke teenager, it really doesn't feel that way.
After all, she doesn't really parent the child she already has, and we all saw how maternal she was when she did have custody of Leah.
Spoiler if you missed the first few seasons of Teen Mom: most inanimate objects appear to be more maternal than Amber.
Look, the point is that it's all just bad, everything about this whole situation is bad and weird and scary.
And in a new interview Amber just did with People, she's opening up about how bad things are for her these days.
In the interview, Amber revealed that she "had a concern" with her depression recently, and after speaking with her doctor, they concluded that "it was a concern that postpartum [depression] was something that could happen because of how I'm doing right now."
She explained that she wants to "nip it in the bud before anything gets too bad or you go into a really deep depression, which is not good for me right now, obviously."
So she began taking antidepressants, which she said is "just something you have to do to make yourself feel better, and you have to make sure it's safe for the baby and just move forward from that."
First of all, it's sincerely wonderful that Amber took the steps to get help if she's been feeling depressed. Lots of antidepressants are perfectly safe during pregnancy, and it's a great thing that she's taking care of herself like this.
Obviously there's no shame in admitting you're struggling, and if she does develop postpartum depression down the line, she's got a head start on battling it.
It's also good that she seems to be wising up a little when it comes to her health.
Last year, after Amber broke up with Matt, she made statements about how she'd stopped taking her medications because she thought it was just her situation that was making her feel depressed.
Except she's said many times that she's bipolar, which isn't something you just get over by getting out of a bad situation -- not that depression is either, but bipolar disorder is a lifelong thing.
She's also said before that the medications she normally took weren't safe for pregnancy, but maybe since she's already on antidepressants, she'll consult her doctor about any other meds she made need after having the baby.
Maybe this is the first step to a whole new and improved Amber!
We can dream, right?
Oh, also in the interview, she specified that she's 33 weeks pregnant right now, which means that she conceived within the first few weeks of dating Andrew.
What a world.

From the beginning, Demi Lovato promised that her tour would be both sexy and vulnerable. As always, Demi does not disappoint.
in the clip that you'll see below, fellow singer Kehlani surprises Demi on stage.
The two share a kiss, and Demi ends up singing while straddling Kehlani.
Part of Demi Lovato's Tell Me You Love Me Tour involves her lounging on a bed and showing off her glorious thighs.
Well, as you'll see in the video below, Kehlani sneaks up behind Demi during her performance.
This leads to the two of them locking lips on stage, to the delight of the audience.
The unscripted moment continues with Demi straddling Kehlani on the bed while she continues to sing.
It's probably safe to say that attendees knew that they'd get their money's worth when they bought their tickets. But it's very unlikely that any of them expected to be treated to such a show.
Kehlani gave Demi a shout-out on Instagram, and also shed some further light on how that moment had come to be.
"'Twas a dream getting to do this tour with you," Kehlani wrote in her captions.
"Watching you every night was a learning experience and you forever have a fan and supporter in me."
She then explains what led her to surprise Demi on stage like that.
"Tonight your dancers put me up to this, but anyone would be stupid not to jump at the chance to hop on that damn moving bed and grab your face looooool."
It was a beautiful moment.
"I love you and appreciate you, beautiful. cheers to you, more life and success on the rest of the legs of this tour."
These two talented singers have more in common than just their good looks and talent and careers.
Demi Lovato has spoken about suicidal thoughts, and recently admitted that she was struggling with suicidal ideation by age 7.
Kehlani is unfortunately no stranger to this battle.
Just two years ago, Kehlani revealed to fans that she had attempted suicide.
Recovery is a lengthy process, and many people find that it's easier to be honest about their mental health with people who have been through similar circumstances.
Demi's tour has also had its moments of real vulnerability. Recently, Demi celebrated six years of sobriety while on stage, saying:
"Yesterday, six years ago, I was drinking vodka out of a Sprite bottle at nine in the morning, throwing up in the car."
If you're drinking enough to throw up on any kind of regular basis, you're probably drinking too much, medically speaking.
She says that she had an epiphany.
"I remember thinking, 'This is no longer cute, this is no longer fun. And I'm just like my dad.'"
If you're doing something and it's neither helpful nor fun, it's usually time to stop.
"So I took a look at my life, and I said, 'Something has to change. Something has to change, I've gotta get sober' -- so I did."
She's done an amazing job of getting sober.
Despite what Demi has said about her sexuality and what fans saw on stage, this doesn't necessarily mean that these gal pals are dating.
This was, after all, a performance. A very fun and sexy one, but still a performance.
Take a look and enjoy it in the video below.
The audience certainly did!

In the six weeks since the world learned that Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux have split up, rumors about how and why the couple called it quits have been circulating non-stop.
Not surprisingly, the most salacious reports center around Jen's first husband, actor and beloved menopausal fantasy inspiration Brad Pitt.
According to breathless tabloid headlines and your Aunt Linda who still watches her old Thelma and Louise VHS before bed, Pitt and Aniston are back together, and they're furiously making up for lost time.
Actual media outlets have already claimed that Brad and Jennifer are married.
These reports are substantiated by nothing other than tips from anonymous sources who talk the way gossip columnists write.
(Pro tip: No one uses the word "steamy" in real life.)
Every time one of these fraudulent reports goes to print, an implicit challenge is issued to other gossip outlets.
And as you can see, the Aussie 'bloid Woman's Day was all like, "We'll see your fake wedding and raise you a fake pregnancy."
The magazine boldly declares "Yes! Jen's Pregnant!" without even bothering to cover its ass with a speculative question mark.
"Just months after secretly reigniting their romance," the former couple is "expecting a much longed-for child," the cover story claims.
"Friends say the thrilling and surprising news that Jen is pregnant is the real reason the rekindled exes went public with their relationship so soon."
The story comes complete with a fabricated source who says Jen has cut out booze and cigs, which is the tabloid world's surest sign that a female celebrity is carrying octuplets:
"In the past two weeks the only social events she's agreed to have been the non-boozy ones," says the source.
Exciting stuff, if you're the type to buy into shameless BS.
Of course, just because the Jen pregnancy story is utter nonsense, that doesn't mean there's nothing of value in the newest issue of Woman's Day.
Like, you convince yourself that due to our increasingly homogeneous global culture, English-speaking countries are all pretty much the same.
Then you find out Aussies are just now getting Young Sheldon and there's such a thing as a "cricket WAG." Crikey!

Arie Luyendyk Jr. is getting really good at this apology thing.
The unpopular Bachelor star has been issuing mea culpas for weeks, it seems, ever since he shattered Becca Kufrin's heart on national television to wrap up the latest season of this ABC reality show.
This time around, however, Arie did not blindside his fiancee with a break-up speech in front of network cameras.
Instead, he teamed up with his second fiancee to pull a lame, unoriginal and, according to some, offensive prank on Twitter followers this past Sunday.
In honor of April Fool's Day, Arie and Lauren Burnham set out to play a joke on their shrinking number of fans.
Luyendyk shared a photo of someone's baby bump, implied it belonged to Lauren and Tweeted:
"Secrets finally out, we have a bunny in the oven! @laurenburnham91."
Take a look below at the picture that accompanied this caption:
Just over an hour after uploading this image, Arie copped to the ploy, simply writing "APRIL FOOLS" and likely thinking he was the funniest person on the planet.
But many people out there disagreed.
Because infertility is sadly a common problem in America, a handful of critics on the Internet did not think this was a topic to base a joke around.
There are millions of women who would give absolutely anything to actually have a bun in their oven...and here is Arie, just having a grand ole time at their expense.
So the argument by quite a few social media users went, with one person referring to Lauren and Arie as "disgusting" and others adding:
"You really are a douche canoe if this is an April fools [sic]!!" wrote another displeased commenter.
(Editor's Note: Based on the way Arie treated Becca, many would say he's a douche canoe regardless of this prank. But we digress.)
After initially blowing off the backlash, Luyendyk later jumped back on Twitter yesterday and recognized that he messed up, writing:
I do have sympathy for women struggling from infertility. My April Fools prank was in no way meant to offend women who struggle with that.
I apologize if you were effected personally by my post.
That's probably enough now, right?
We understand why this is a very personal and sensitive issue for folks out there, but we don't doubt Arie and Lauren meant no harm by their joke.
They've hopefully learned some kind of lesson and should probably err on the side of being as sensitive as possible in general, considering how they're viewed by most Bachelor viewers after the finale.
Maybe take a social media hiatus, guys.
There's little good that can be done by you making your presence felt strongly in the public sphere these days.
We could all use a cooling off period from these two, no matter what you think of their pregnancy prank, couldn't we?
