EXCLUSIVE: Parkland dad Andrew Pollack gives update on park project

Posted: 02 May 2018 10:35 AM PDT

Andrew Pollack, whose daughter, Meadow, was killed in the Valentine’s Day mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, has promised to build a “princess park” in honor of Meadow.

Pollack posted an update on his Twitter page Wednesday, announcing that the city of Coral Springs has donated a park, which he will be rebuilding, along with water features and a memorial for all the victims of the shooting.

Pollack tweeted:

I’m at Betty Stradling Park in @CoralSpringsFL. Thank you to the city of Coral Springs for donating this park to me. I will be rebuilding this park with water features and will also be making a memorial for all the victims with the money that we raised. #FixIt

Pollack filed a wrongful death lawsuit Monday against former Broward Sheriff Deputy Scot Peterson, gunman Nikolas Cruz and several others.

VIDEO: ‘Morning Joe’ segment comes to awkward halt when host makes bizarre suggestion

Posted: 02 May 2018 10:17 AM PDT

As the most reliable and balanced news aggregation service on the internet, DML News offers the following information published by WASHINGTONEXAMINER.COM:

A segment on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” came to a sudden halt on Wednesday after co-host Mika Brzezinski suggested the raid on President Trump’s doctor’s office was conducted to hide evidence of a sexually transmitted disease.

MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhle was on the show discussing a report that White House chief of staff John Kelly called Trump an “idiot” on multiple occasions.

The article goes on to state the following:

“We know from Kellyanne Conway, unless you show true worship of the grand master wizard that is the president, then you're outskies with him," Ruhle said.

"I like this analogy from Stephanie," MSNBC's Elise Jordan replied. "You leave with the political equivalent of an STD, to talk about something Donald Trump worries about constantly.”

“It’s something that you just don’t get rid of easily,” she added.

“Wait a minute, maybe that’s why they raided his doctor’s office,” Brzezinski shot back.

Trump Tweet: Rigged system, threatens to get involved

Posted: 02 May 2018 08:01 AM PDT

President Trump sent out a statement on Twitter Wednesday morning, in regards to a showdown that is mounting over documents requested by House conservatives which Deputy Attorney General Rod J. Rosenstein has refused to turn over.

Members of the conservative House Freedom Caucus — led by Rep. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.), have drafted articles of impeachment against Rosenstein, who oversees the Robert Mueller probe, as a last resort if he will not hand over the documents.

President Trump tweeted out in frustration, warning he may have to get involved himself: “A Rigged System – They don't want to turn over Documents to Congress. What are they afraid of? Why so much redacting? Why such unequal "justice?" At some point I will have no choice but to use the powers granted to the Presidency and get involved!”

Trump’s tweet followed a Fox News interview with former Utah congressman Jason Chaffetz, regarding the Department of Justice’s refusal to turn over the documents.

CLAIM: Cohen represented clients who allegedly wrecked cars on purpose

Posted: 02 May 2018 07:42 AM PDT

As the most reliable and balanced news aggregation service on the internet, DML News offers the following information published by TheHill.com:

Before he was President Trump’s personal lawyer, Michael Cohen worked as a personal injury lawyer reportedly covering clients who allegedly staged car accidents in order to sue for large sums of money.

Rolling Stone found in a new investigation that while working as a personal injury lawyer, Cohen covered clients affiliated with insurance fraud rings where people allegedly rented vehicles, purchased insurance and then crashed those vehicles into friends cars in order to receive a large payout.

The article goes on to state the following:

Cohen never faced any charges of wrongdoing related to the cases and Rolling Stone reports there is no evidence that he knowingly filed false claims.

One example reported by Rolling Stone is a case brought by State Farm, in which Cohen was listed as the defense attorney for four people charged of staging at least 10 accidents from 2000 to 2001 as part of a fraud ring. The case was granted a default judgment after Cohen’s clients chose not to contest charges.

10 Ways to Safeguard Your Bank Accounts

Posted: 02 May 2018 07:28 AM PDT

Identity theft is rampant, with the burgeoning occurrence of account takeover, in which criminals target checking, savings and credit card accounts.

"Opportunities for identity thieves are everywhere," said Kathy Stokes, AARP fraud expert. "But we have the power to shut them down by taking practical steps to protect ourselves."

According to AARP, the following precautions should be taken to protect your money and your existing accounts.

  1. For all of your accounts, create strong user identifications and passwords. Change passwords frequently and use different ones for each account.
  2. Utilize a password manager, which generates and stores long, complicated passwords. There are several companies who provide this service, which offer varying prices, storage methods and ancillary services.
  3. Take advantage of free copies of your credit report. Monitor your credit reports and credit score. Criminals can use your information to obtain credit cards in your name using a fake address. In such an instance, you would never receive bills, so your first indication that something is amiss may be a poor credit score resulting from unpaid bills or delinquent charges on your credit report. AnnualCreditReport.com offers each person a free copy of their credit report once every 12 months.
  4. Consider ordering a lock or a freeze on your credit reports compiled by Equifax, Experian and TransUnion. Either action will prevent access to your credit reports, making it highly unlikely that anyone could open a credit card in your name. Fees vary among states, but are waived in some instances.
  5. Refrain from revealing vital data such as Social Security and bank account numbers to strangers calling over the phone.
  6. Consider purchasing identity-theft insurance, but read the fine print carefully. For example, basic insurance will cover only the costs of remediating your identity, not the losses.
  7. Pay close attention to your snail mail, making certain that you are not receiving unsolicited credit cards or collection notices for products and services you never purchased.
  8. Be cautious when clicking on websites and emails. Criminals have become expert in forging the look of legitimate sites.
  9. Consider creating an online bank account so you can closely monitor account activity and identify breaches quickly.
  10. Ask if your bank or brokerage house provides account activity notifications. If so, implement them to protect your accounts.

What to Consider When Buying Travel Insurance for the First Time

Posted: 02 May 2018 07:10 AM PDT

Planning the international trip of a lifetime, or heading out on an excursion in the United States? Either way, you might want to consider purchasing travel insurance.

According to Richard D'Ambrosio, a writer for Travel Market Report, there are several things to consider when it comes to making the travel insurance purchasing decision.

Where is your destination?
Travelers might want to consider their familiarity with the area to which they are traveling, particularly when it comes to feeling secure about hospitals, pharmacies and the availability of general medical care. Travel insurance can help pay for medical evacuation from areas that are not equipped to handle certain health issues. Otherwise, a traveler could easily spend thousands in personal and retirement savings should they experience a health crisis in such a region.

What is your personal travel style?
Will you be with a group for the majority of your trip, or will you be venturing out on your own? Being with a tour guide and friends might be enough to ensure that you would receive the care you need should you encounter hardship, but if you are going to go it alone, consider purchasing travel insurance for similar peace of mind.

Who will help you weigh the costs?
Representatives of travel insurance companies can guide you through the purchase process and assist you in weighing the benefits of their offers. In some instances, travelers can purchase extensive, comprehensive health coverage for less than $70 for a nine-day trip. After receiving such a quote, you might ask yourself, "Why wouldn't you always do this?"

Weinstein hit with major claim from Netflix producer

Posted: 02 May 2018 06:55 AM PDT

Another lawsuit has been filed against film mogul Harvey Weinstein, with Alexandra Canosa, an associate producer on the Netflix series “Marco Polo,” alleging that he raped, physically assaulted and verbally abused her over the course of five years.

Documents filed Monday in Manhattan Supreme Court allege that Weinstein “constantly threatened” Canosa and “made it clear that if she did not succumb to his demands for sexual contact or if she exposed his unwanted conduct there would be retaliation, including humiliation, the loss of her job and loss of any ability to work in the entertainment business.”

The Weinstein Company produced “Marco Polo,” which debuted in 2014. The lawsuit alleges that Weinstein demanded to meet Canosa in “isolated environments” and demanded sex.

In a Tuesday statement to CNN, Weinstein attorney Phyllis Kupferstein said, “Ali Canosa was a friend who had worked for The Weinstein Company for 10 years, traveled the world for the company and held several influential roles; overseeing many projects throughout the years. From someone who has been thought of as a good friend, involved only in a consensual relationship, these claims are not only mystifying to Mr. Weinstein, but deeply upsetting, and they cannot be supported by the facts.”

Within an hour of receiving the first statement, CNN received two updates, with the second deleting the mention of a “consensual relationship” between Weinstein and Canosa. The Weinstein team had “no additional comment” regarding the revisions in the statements.

In Monday’s amended lawsuit, Canosa alleged that Weinstein sexually assaulted her multiple times between 2010 and 2015.

Canosa claims that she was sexually assaulted in a hotel room in New York, “sexually assaulted, verbally assaulted, bullied and intimidated multiple times” in Los Angeles, “sexually assaulted and raped” in Malaysia, and “physically assaulted and verbally abused” in Weinstein’s room in Budapest.
Canosa also alleges that, in August 2017, Weinstein verbally threatened her “not to speak to anyone about his abuse.”

The lawsuit also names as defendants The Weinstein Company, LLC, The Weinstein Company Holdings, LLC, Robert Weinstein — Harvey’s brother and co-founder of The Weinstein Company — and nine other individuals associated with the Weinstein brand.

The complaint declared that defendants “knew or should have known” about Weinstein’s conduct, and did nothing to correct it. Instead, they “facilitated, hid, and supported” Weinstein.

Obama’s National Security Council Spokesman Accuses Trump, Israelis of ‘Cooking Up’ Intel

Posted: 02 May 2018 06:47 AM PDT

The spokesman for former President Barack Obama’s National Security Council has accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Donald Trump of falsifying the trove of evidence regarding Iran’s covert nuclear weapons program, which Netanyahu presented to the public on Monday.

The accusation was launched by Tommy Vietor, the co-host of “Pod Save America” and founder of CrookedMedia.com, who served as Obama’s NSC spokesman from 2011-2013.

On Tuesday, Vietor tweeted, “After years of bashing US intelligence agencies for getting Iraq WMD wrong, Trump is now cooking up intel with the Israelis to push us closer to a conflict with Iran. A scandal hiding in plain sight.”

Netanyahu presented more than 100,000 copies of original documents taken from a secret Iranian warehouse, which revealed that Iran had concealed from the public information regarding its nuclear program.

PJ Media reported, “Not only did the evidence prove Iran has violated the nuclear deal (JCPOA) it had signed with Obama, it proved that Iran has been lying to IAEA inspectors and the international community for over two decades.”

Vietor has been a longtime supporter of the JCPOA, maintaining his stance even after his NSC co-worker Ben Rhodes, the former deputy national security advisor, admitted in 2016 that he lied to members of the media to garner public support for the JCPOA.

PJ Media opined that the “massive intelligence revelation by Netanyahu likely means Trump will exit the JCPOA in the days ahead. Perhaps more importantly for Vietor, however, it means that everyone involved in the crafting and selling of the JCPOA will come under serious scrutiny in the months and years ahead regarding who knows what, and when, about the entirety of Iran’s nuclear program.”

Although a plethora of evidence has been presented by Netanyahu and Israel, one of the United States’ most trusted allies, Vietor argued that Americans should instead trust Iran’s position on this latest development.
