Appeal to revert the revert that changed Paekākāriki back to Paekakariki, and/or to clarify rules around Māori place names

I agree with the user Utunga that Paekākāriki is the appropriate spelling in *English*. I was not part of earlier conversations, alluded to above, about the correct conventions for NZ place names. However I suggest that the editorial policy should be to rely on the New Zealand Geographic Board for the official place names. They have a statutory function to decide place names, which are used in NZ English.

Of course there are places in New Zealand with both an English name and a Māori name. In those cases, the user Rsfinlayson may have a good point. But Paekākāriki has the same name in both English and te reo Māori. And it has the same spelling in both languages, as evidenced by its official name, as well as usage on English signs and by English-speaking locals. Perhaps it was once Paekakariki, but it isn't anymore. Fortunately we don't have to rely on sentiments, as we have an official body that decides: the New Zealand Geographic Board.

Speedy Deletion of Dan DeBono (SEAL)
Reddogsix: You recently deleted my page Dan DeBono (SEAL) for being unworthy of a place in the encyclopedia. I'd like this to be reversed as Dan DeBono is a candidate for public office and the repetitive deletion interferes with the election process. I will be creating a new page, titling it the same thing, and should it be deleted, I will explore legal action. This is an impediment of the American democratic election system and proper action will be taken should that be necessary - I hope it does not come to this point.

Historically ruled by the kings of Katyuri and Chand Dynasties, the Kumaon division was formed in 1816, when the British reclaimed this region from the Gorkhas, who had annexed the erstwhile Kingdom of Kumaon in 1790. Currently, there are several design philosophies in earthquake engineering, making use of experimental results, computer simulations and observations from past earthquakes to offer the required performance for the seismic threat at the site of interest. These range from appropriately sizing the structure to be strong and ductile enough to survive the shaking with an acceptable damage, to equipping it with base isolation or using structural vibration control technologies to minimize any forces and deformations. While the former is the method typically applied in most earthquake-resistant structures, important facilities, landmarks and cultural heritage buildings use the more advanced (and expensive) techniques of isolation or control to survive strong shaking with minimal damage. Examples of such applications are the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels and the Acropolis Museum.

Richards was apprenticed to James Boyton, of St Andrew Street, an assistant surgeon to Steevens' Hospital. After the end of his apprenticeship in April 1781, he travelled to London, Edinburgh, and Paris, where he studied under the most eminent teachers of the day. He had been proposed by Boyton as an original member of the College of Surgeons but his absence from Dublin led to his being overlooked. On his return he was examined, and received the Letters Testimonial on the 17 February 1785, his fees being remitted. On the 16 May 1785, he was elected a member, and subsequently was four times selected as president.

Richards commenced his practice in South Great George's Street, but soon changed his residence to York Street, where he passed the remainder of his life. In 1790 he succeeded Arthur Winton as Surgeon to the Meath Hospital, and retained that office until his death. His practice was large and lucrative, and he amassed so much money that he was able to purchase considerable landed properties in the Counties of Dublin and Wicklow. In 1812 he won a lottery prize of £10,000.

Brokaw denied the allegations through a statement released by NBC: "I met with Linda Vester on two occasions, both at her request, 23 years ago, because she wanted advice with respect to her career at NBC. :A term is overhang (rock formation). You could imagine that a nappe or thrust fault pushed the rocks out like that. But rock is not normally strong enough to sustain a large overhang, and it will collapse, perhaps making scree, but iof just left rumpled would be a more typical nappe. :::I understand how frustrating dealing with this can all be, but there's no "winning" going on my mind. While I personally agree with you in how "most" basically means all in cases like this, it's also easy to have undue doubt cast on language like that (again, climate change denial where uncertainty in consensus language is easily overestimated by those not familiar with how it works). Some definitions in sources you list do say a simple majority, so opposition to most is just being really careful about accidentally making room for fringe claims. It would be a lot simpler if we could just link to scientific consensus as a self-explaining way to get around all of that, but we don't have sources using that language.

John Reginald Halliday Christie (8 April 1899 – 15 July 1953), known to his family and friends as Reg Christie and in media reports as the Rillington Place Strangler, was an English serial killer and necrophile active during the 1940s and early 1950s. He murdered at least eight people – including his wife, Ethel – by strangling them in his flat at 10 Rillington Place, Notting Hill, London. Christie moved out of Rillington Place during March 1953; soon afterward the bodies of three of his victims were discovered hidden in a wallpaper-covered alcove in the kitchen. Two further bodies were discovered in the garden, and his wife's body was found beneath the floorboards of the front room. Christie was arrested and convicted of his wife's murder, for which he was hanged.

Two of Christie's victims were Beryl Evans and her baby daughter Geraldine, who, along with Beryl's husband, Timothy Evans, were tenants at 10 Rillington Place during 1948–49. This case sparked huge controversy after Evans was charged with both murders, found guilty of the murder of his daughter and hanged in 1950. Christie was a major prosecution witness; when his own crimes were discovered three years later, serious doubts were raised about the integrity of Evans's conviction. Christie himself subsequently admitted killing Beryl Evans, but not Geraldine; it is now generally accepted that Christie murdered both Beryl and Geraldine and that police mishandling of the original inquiry, as well as their incompetence during searches at the house, allowed Christie to escape detection and enabled him to murder four more women. The High Court, when overturning Evans' conviction during the 2000s, accepted that Evans did not murder either his wife or his child, and that a miscarriage of justice therefore occurred when he was hanged.<ref name=WestlakeReviewCommission>.
