It sounds like Pinhead will be making his small screen debut thanks to producers Roy Lee (IT) and Dan Farah (Ready Player One). According to Deadline, Lawrence Kuppin, David Salzman and Eric Gardner bought the TV rights from New World in 1989 and they're teaming up with Lee and Farah for this new series:
"The intention is to use the mythology established in the movie franchise and the Clive Barker novella The Hellbound Heart as a launch pad for a new series that could be anthology, or a more traditional narrative."
Development is in the VERY early stages, so a showrunner has not yet been announced, and it's still too early to know whether this will wind up at a network or streaming service.
This project is unrelated to the Hellraiser movie reboot / re-imagining that David S. Goyer is going to write and produce for Spyglass Media Group. For more details on that project, make sure to check out our previous coverage! My hope for both projects is that they keep Clive Barker creatively involved, and these projects are certainly encouraging for Hellraiser fans who have had to endure direct-to-video sequels for nearly two decades.

What if your childhood imaginary friend returned in your teenage years... and they weren't as imaginary as you thought? The answer to that chilling question is explored in Adam Egypt Mortimer's Daniel Isn't Real, and following the film's well-received world premiere at SXSW earlier this year, Samuel Goldwyn Films and Shudder have acquired rights to the movie.
According to multiple outlets, including The Hollywood Reporter, Samuel Goldwyn Films and Shudder picked up North American rights to Daniel Isn't Real, with a theatrical and VOD release being planned for late this year.
Here's what Samuel Goldwyn Films' Miles Fineburg had to say about the acquisition (via THR):
Directed by Adam Egypt Mortimer from a screenplay he co-wrote with Brian DeLeeuw (based on DeLeeuw's novel In This Way I Was Saved), Daniel Isn't Real stars Patrick Schwarzenegger, Miles Robbins, Sasha Lane, Hannah Marks, and Mary Stuart Masterson.
Stay tuned to Daily Dead for future updates, and in case you missed it, check HERE to read Heather Wixson's SXSW review of Daniel Isn't Real, as well as her interviews with Adam Egypt Mortimer, Miles Robbins, and Patrick Schwarzenegger.

After thrilling and chilling viewers with The Haunting of Hill House (based on Shirley Jackson's novel of the same name), Mike Flanagan will return to Netflix for a second season, The Haunting of Bly Manor (based on Henry James' novella The Turn of the Screw). Ahead of its premiere next year, the first casting news has been revealed for The Haunting of Bly Manor, and it's a familiar face from The Haunting of Hill House.
Deadline reports that Victoria Pedretti will play the lead role in The Haunting of Bly Manor, with the news also being revealed by Pedretti herself in a new video (see below) shared on the show's official Twitter account. According to Deadline, Pedretti will play the governess, Dani, who watches over two peculiar orphans at a secluded mansion.
Mike Flanagan is expected to once again be at the helm of the new installment, with executive producer Trevor Macy, Amblin TV, and Paramount TV also on board.
The Haunting of Hill House fans will no doubt recognize Pedretti for her haunting and heartbreaking performance as Nell Crain in the first season, and she'll also play one of the lead roles in the upcoming second season of Netflix's You, as well as a supporting role in Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood.
With The Haunting series looking to follow the American Horror Story template of telling a new story each season, Flanagan could have the opportunity to work with other actors from the first season of The Haunting of Hill House, and we'll keep Daily Dead readers updated as more details are revealed.

While some cities are known for having midnight screenings of The Rocky Horror Picture Show for decades, Winnipeg is the city that never stopped championing Brian De Palma's Phantom of the Paradise since it was first released in 1974. The city's obsession with the cult film is explored in Malcolm Ingram and Sean Stanley's new documentary Phantom of Winnipeg, which will make its US premiere at this year's Sleepy Hollow International Film Festival.
