“We’re gonna have four major independent women that are standing with us and walking beside us," said David Hogg, a survivor of the recent high school shooting in Parkland, FL., to CNN.

"They're gonna be standing there with us and marching with us and they're just some of the few people that are really coming out and stepping up with us," he added.

Jane’s Addiction’s Perry Farrell Unveils New Vegas Experience ‘Kind Heaven’

Perry Farrell is sharing a brand new dream with the world.

The Jane’s Addiction frontman has unveiled Kind Heaven, an immersive experience that he will present in Las Vegas with a launch date of August 2019.

Farrell revealed his plans for Kind Heaven this week (March 15) with a press conference about the project that’s categorized as “a complete playground for the senses, featuring multiple musical stages, 40 food stations, bars and much, much more” (via Forbes). The idea is to update the live music experience into “immersive theater.”

“What we're doing, in all honesty, to simplify it, is we're creating a new scene. And scenes, as we know, always are built around music,” Farrell explained about the Kind Heaven concept.

“Youth counterculture goes out to experience nightlife, listen to music, dance, socialize and in the last 50 years, since I've been alive, it's gone from rock and roll to hair metal to metal to alternative or punk rock, disco, EDM and now bottle service and now what cause I'm not going out of my house now,” he added. “I don't want to go and pay $2,000 for a bottle of vodka. It's not interesting. But if you told me, ‘Come out, you can walk around and you have a chance to experience for the course of two hours, or two days if you want, every square inch of that building is thought with kindness, excitement in mind.’ So there's never a moment that doesn't fill your ears or your eyes or your palate. We have 40 stations to grab street food. All these spots will be sprinkled over the five stories, chance for teas, drinks, food, alcohol.”

Farrell goes on to talk about a hologram component to the event, and the possibility of seeing him sing with David Bowie or Freddie Mercury via technology. The singer is also interested in including adult entertainment via hologram.

Only time will tell. But with Ferrell at the helm, it’s sure to be intriguing.

In a statement about the cover, Q-Tip says, "Elton’s influence shows you that the possibilities of music are endless…. He's a master showman, singer, pianist. He's the all round goods."

The spirit of that statement is realized in a new music video released to accompany the song.

A very eccentric dance party sees characters in extravagant costumes vibing to the slow driving beat of the music. Director Hector Dockrill was reportedly inspired by Paris Is Burning, a 1990 ball culture documentary.

Other artists featured on the Revamp album include, Lady Gaga, Queens of the Stone Age, and Florence and the Machine.

Woman Spends 19K on Surgery for 18-Year-Old Cat

By Kayla Jardine

This cat just got one of its 9 lives back.

University of Baltimore Professor Betsy Boyd spent $19,000 on a kidney transplant to save the life of her 18-year-old cat, Stanley, who was diagnosed with stage 4 renal failure.

She told Radio.com, “I had to think about the price to a degree, but my larger concern was always Stan’s well-being and whether the surgery made sense for him.”

Related: Dog Wags Tail Non-Stop After Being Found Chained In Basement Of Abandoned Home

Boyd just celebrated Stanley’s 18th birthday on Saturday, March 10th.

She said Stanley is almost human to her and she didn’t think twice about spending the money on the transplant — even though her husband canceled plans to buy a new car. “I’m smart with money. I shop consignment and I drive an older car.”

Stanley has given her a new perspective on money and life and said it was worth every penny. “He’s my best friend. He’s family,” she said.”I’ll never have a connection just like this one again.

While there was some backlash on her spending, Boyd said there were also some lovely comments. Acknowledging, “That’s life in 2018”.

Neil Young’s Next Book is a Sci-Fi Novel

Posted: 16 Mar 2018 08:49 AM PDT

Neil Young is more than just a prolific folk-rock icon: He’s a movie star, tech entrepreneur and writer whose autobiography Waging Heavy Peace earned him comparisons to Stephen King. While Young promotes his new film Paradox (directed by his girlfriend Daryl Hannah) at SXSW in Austin, he revealed that he’s working on another book—and this time, it’s a sci-fi novel.

He treated fans to a brief synopsis of the work, titled Canary. According to the “Unknown Legend” singer, the story follows “a guy who gets busted for a crime.” The protagonist uncovers corruption at the power company where he works and sabotages their plot.

“He discovers the solar company he works for is a hoax,” Young said. “And they're not really using solar. They're using this s–t – the guy who's doing this has come up with a way to make bad fuel, the bad energy, this really ugly terrible stuff, and he's figured out a way to genetically create these animals that s–t, that gives the energy to make the [fuel]. So he's created this new species. But the species escapes. So it's a f—in' mess. It's a long story. So it's a novel.”

The futuristic world includes tech innovations like glasses that “broadcast everything that he sees” so adversaries “are watching everything he's doing and listening to everything.” Young says he has a literary agent and will spend this year finishing Canary.

New Nine Inch Nails EP Coming Soon, Says Trent Reznor

Nine Inch Nails have promised fans that a new EP will be available before their June 22 appearance at the Meltdown Festival.

"We're in the process of finishing that right now and that should be out before the shows take place," Reznor told the BBC. "It's not what we expected it to be.”

The still-untitled EP will be the last installment in a trilogy that started with 2016's Not The Actual Events and continued with 2017’s Add Violence. Reznor said the final EP won’t adhere to the band’s original vision for the series because those initial ideas were “too predictable.”

"We started out with a pretty rigid concept of what the three EPs were gonna be, having not written them all but having a kind of blueprint for the trajectory and the sound," Reznor said. "It felt like we were forcing things, musically and storytelling-wise and the whole trajectory. The reason this has been a little bit delayed is… it took us a while for what has become the third EP to reveal itself to us."

Parkland Students Release ‘Shine’ as Charity Single

By Robyn Collins

Survivors from Parkland, Florida's Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School have released “Shine,” a song they wrote following the shootings that took place at their school on Feb. 14.

The student songwriters, Sawyer Garrity, 16, and Andrea Peña, 15, performed "Shine" with their drama club at a CNN Town Hall meeting just one week after 17 people were killed at their school.

“We, we’re gonna stand tall/ Gonna raise up our voices, so we’ll never, ever fall,” go the lyrics. “We’re done with all your little games/ We’re tired of hearing that we’re too young to ever make a change/ ‘Cause you’re not gonna knock us down/ We’ll get back up again/ You may have hurt us but I promise we’ll be stronger/ And we’re not gonna let you in/ We’re putting up a fight/ You may have brought the dark/ But together we will shine a light.”

“Shine” will be a theme song at the March For Our Lives demonstration on March 24 in Washington D.C.

Proceeds from the download sales of “Shine” will go to the SHINE MSD Fund, which will support the victims and families of the shooting through mental health and arts programs.

The track offers yet another example of the group’s catchy, beat-heavy blend of EDM and pop.

“Everybody Hates Me” is a mid-tempo, hip-hop-inflected track about being dismayed and disillusioned. “Yeah, I just wanna drink tequila with my friend/ She said she cheated ’cause she’s trying to get ahead. The more I read her, yeah, the more I take offense/ I’m so defeated I can’t get outside my head.”

By the time The Chainsmokers hit the chorus, they’re in full self-deprecation mode: “I walk into the club like everybody hates me/ I’m talking to myself, s—, now they think I’m crazy/ I walk into the club like everybody hates me.”
