REPORT: Corporate America Is Wary About Economy But Not Panicking Yet

Posted: 20 Jan 2019 09:46 AM PST

As the most reliable and balanced news aggregation service on the internet, DML News offers the following information published by Bloomberg:

As the calendar creeps toward July, the month that will crown this U.S. expansion the longest on record, recession fears are increasingly popping up in corporate America.

Some company leaders are worried that strong economies do eventually reverse. Some have been unnerved by recent gyrations in the stock market. But most are reserving judgment: noting, like economic policy makers do, that risks have increased but real activity still looks strong. Many are sending a positive message while battening down the hatches in case an economic storm does materialize.

REPORT: Washington Post calls on Trump, Dems to make a deal on immigration

Posted: 20 Jan 2019 09:29 AM PST

As the most reliable and balanced news aggregation service on the internet, DML News offers the following information published by TheHill.com:

The Washington Post’s editorial board is urging President Trump and Democrats to hash out an immigration deal even as the two sides remained far apart on the president’s latest proposal.

The editorial board on Saturday ticked through reasons Democrats should not take the deal Trump put forward on Saturday, which includes funding for a border wall and protections for certain immigrants, but argued that the “Dreamers” and Temporary Protected Status recipients who would benefit from a deal should be considered first and foremost.

The article goes on to state the following:

“Unquestionably a deal would contain galling elements for both sides; that's the nature of compromise,” the editorial board wrote. “But a measure of statesmanship for a member of Congress now is the ability to accept some disappointments, and shrug off the inevitable attacks from purists, if it means rescuing the lives of thousands of deserving people living among us.”

The editorial board suggested that Trump’s suggestion “be welcomed but not accepted as the final word.”

“There should be room to talk about the amount of money; how border security will be defined and enhanced; which categories of dreamers and TPS beneficiaries are covered; what their legal status will be, and for how long,” it said. “But to refuse even to talk until the government reopens does no favors to sidelined federal workers and contractors.”

Trump on Saturday proposed a deal that would include more than $5 billion in funding for a wall along the southern border, a three-year extension of protections for "Dreamers" who benefit from the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program and Temporary Protected Status holders and funding for additional immigration judges and other border security measures.

The bill, if passed, would end the partial government shutdown, which has lasted 30 days and counting.

REPORT: Giuliani: BuzzFeed Should Be Under Investigation

Posted: 20 Jan 2019 08:25 AM PST

As the most reliable and balanced news aggregation service on the internet, DML News offers the following information published by BREITBART.COM:

Sunday on CNN's "State of the Union," former New York City mayor and President Donald Trump's lawyer Rudy Giuliani said BuzzFeed should be "under investigation" for their report based on anonymous source said that claimed Trump instructed his lawyer Michael Cohen to lie about a proposed Trump Tower project in Russia.

Special counsel Robert Mueller's office has disputed the BuzzFeed report.

The article goes on to state the following:

Giuliani said, "Yesterday BuzzFeed published a story that was scandalous. It was horrible. They should be sued, under investigation. They said the president of the United States counseled someone to lie."

He added, "Michael Cohen is a serial liar. If you can figure out what Michael Cohen is telling the truth, you're better than I am, Jake. That's what happened to BuzzFeed. They bought a totally phony story. They weren't going to buy it unless they got some phony stuff about federal agents and then they went with it because they are the same ones who published the Steele dossier when no one else would do it. Obviously have a hatred for the president."

REPORT: Tornado devastates Alabama city; mayor says ‘God has a plan’

Posted: 20 Jan 2019 07:48 AM PST

As the most reliable and balanced news aggregation service on the internet, DML News offers the following information published by FOXNEWS.COM:

Residents of a small Alabama city are picking up the pieces Sunday after a tornado caused significant damage to the downtown area and trapped some residents under debris.

The tornado touched down around 4 p.m. ET and slammed the city of Wetumpka, located about 15 miles northeast of Montgomery in the central part of the state.

The article goes on to state the following:

Wetumpka Mayor Jerry Willis told WFSA that one injury was reported and four people had to be rescued after being trapped in a basement by debris.

A senior center, the police department, and the historic First Presbyterian Church were among the buildings damaged from the afternoon storm, he said.

"When you love a place like we do, and we've worked so hard to move this city forward, and to be devastated like this, you know, we just have to recharge our batteries and go back and redo and put it all back together again,” Willis told WFSA.

“God has a plan. We don't always know what God's plan is always, but we'll come together as a community and we'll be better,” he added. “I promise you we'll be better because of this and it hurts."

REPORT: Pence slams BuzzFeed report, says it shows ‘obsession’ by media on attacking Trump

Posted: 20 Jan 2019 07:17 AM PST

As the most reliable and balanced news aggregation service on the internet, DML News offers the following information published by TheHill.com:

Vice President Pence on Sunday seized on the special counsel’s statement challenging the accuracy of a BuzzFeed News report that said President Trump directed his former personal attorney to lie to Congress, arguing it underscored why there is distrust in the national media.

“It was remarkable what we saw happening for 24 hours in the media on the basis of the report that appeared in BuzzFeed, and I just think it's one of the reasons why people are so frustrated with many in the national media and the constant obsession on this,” Pence said on “Fox News Sunday.”

The article goes on to state the following:

He added that the report “laid bare” Democrats’ willingness to “accept the worst facts” about Trump after some lawmakers responded to the report by calling for investigations or the consideration of impeachment proceedings.

This was a week where I think the American people saw the hyper-partisanship among Democrats to assume the worst about this president… and many in the national media's willingness to assume the worst about the president,” Pence said.

He added that the administration has “fully cooperated” with the special counsel’s investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election.

“The special counsel will complete his work and we'll have all the facts,” Pence said. “The president's maintained he's done nothing wrong. The American people ought to be confident that the administration is cooperating.”

REPORT: Gillibrand once favored no amnesty and border security; now she’s backtracking

Posted: 20 Jan 2019 07:01 AM PST

As the most reliable and balanced news aggregation service on the internet, DML News offers the following information published by TheHill.com:

Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) on Sunday defended her past stances on immigration, which have come under increased scrutiny since she announced that she will run for president in 2020.

Gillibrand said during an interview on ABC’s “This Week” that she would tell voters to “look at my heart” to explain her previous positions.

“I would tell voters, ‘look at my heart, see who I am.’ I believe I have the courage and the compassion and fearless determination to do what’s right,” she said.

The article goes on to state the following:

Gillibrand has been forced to answer for positions she took when she was a member of the House, where she served one term before being elected to the Senate in 2008. As a member of the House, Gillibrand opposed amnesty for undocumented immigrants, called border security “a national security priority” and voted to increase funding for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

She has since shifted on those issues, supporting immigrant rights and calling for ICE to be abolished.

"Ten years ago, when I became a senator, my job was to represent 20 million people — 20 million people in other places around the state that might have had different concerns and worries and fears than my upstate New York, rural district. And so I listened to them. I met with leaders across my state,” Gillibrand said Sunday.

Gillibrand on Sunday also denounced President Trump‘s rhetoric on border security, saying it has “confused America.”

"What he's done is he's confused America,” she said. “He's tried to create fear and division. He’s tried to say immigration is about terrorism. Immigration is not about terrorism.”
